So sad these cars were lost to "modernization". It would be neat to see modern light rail build to such an outline. I can think of no reason that would be impossible.

Same here in Seattle-we're paying billions in taxes for a network of light rail that was in place 100 years ago.....:cautious::confused:

If we look to the far right, I think we see the Rock Island's downtown ticket office. Their logo can also be seen. Cool.

Keep that very early Kodachrome coming!

Nice to teach the kids the sky wasn't always gray in the days of film noir.

Love those Brill cars, at least they look like my Bowser Penn Line 40 year old Brill model. (Where's the Fingers Crossed emoticon when I need it?)
'cept I have to make a people catcher. The NYC trolleys I grew up with didn't have them. Guess NYC folks figured they could look out for themselves. :D

They're all actually locally built cars, having been constructed by Woeber Carriage of Denver. They do share similarities with some of the Brill types though.

I like that Zephyr sign too. It gives a specific time frame for the photo, even if one doesn't have a date or year. Especially the illustration of the original gorgeous Budd/EMD Zephyr trains!

And how about that "nose sag" on that oncoming streetcar?

That could be possible. Maybe a slight fender bender with another car. If I recall, though, that car was forty years old at the time of that photo and the streetcar lines were closed the month after. It may be possible that it just wasn't being maintained that well.
