I found this ancient artifact in a drawer this evening, a gift from NS dating from the mid-1980s at a time in my career when I worked as Asst. Traffic Mgr. for a large shipper. I see that the keyboard has numbers and letters. It probably has some sort of text storage function, as well as a clock, calendar and calculator. I thought to remove the button cell long ago, so there's no battery corrosion. I can fire this baby up anytime and trip back in time. Someone on eBay is attempting to sell his for $142.95 plus shipping. Right-o. It's "VERY RARE VINTAGE" you know. Mine's worth $1.4295. https://www.ebay.com/itm/VERY-RARE-...BODY-POCKET-CALCULATOR-HONG-KONG/182363829099
That's neat. If you sold it, you could put a battery in it and use the letters to type out "RARE" on the screen. I have an old Bowman calculator from the early seventies, somewhere. I don't think it works anymore. It still has the red LED readout with about 1/8" numerals. Doug
I still have my old TI SR-11 from 1973. It too has red LED digits. Its rechargeable batteries have long since faded away, but I'll bet that it'd still work if I were to replace them. I don't know why I've kept this, other than I have a penchant for old tech. I kept my TI-99/4A home computer from 1981 for many years.
I found my father's HP-35 when we cleaned out his home. He paid $395 for basic math in 1972 ($2,414 in 2019). Boy, have things changed in 50 years.
okay i gotta admit the NS calculator is cool. be interested to also know if it still works, if not it can always be a conversation starter
