I think I have been avoiding doing those windows for a year. 4 windows down, now for the side and end door veneer work. I really have no criticism of those who use castings now. My next passenger car may be a photo shopped image glued to a card board box.
I just hope the neighbors don't hear me when I'm working on locomotives these days with my degenerated dexterity. It really does sound like I'm killing somebody, sometimes. Doug
It's nice to know that I'm not the only modeler who blows his stack when things go awry. As JimJ. so aptly posted, this is supposed to be a fun hobby, but sometimes ..........
The sad part is avoiding things that make you angry, like installing MT couplers, reinstalling valve gear on Arnold Rapido steamers, and installing bits of plastic as shims. Things that used to be routine. Doug
You nailed it Doug! While I don't have a railroad at this moment, there's plenty I could be doing to rebuild locomotives right now and am reluctant to begin because I know things will go wrong and replacement parts will either be unavailable or cost a king's ransom. I find that I have less patience for these things than I used to.
BITD I converted the trucks on my entire fleet of N scale trains to MT's. Cutting and and then playing with those tiny little springs all day. Then I even added small flange wheels. This was way before C55 was handily available. I get why I got the MT couplers, but no idea why I added the wheel sets.
I managed to get five Treble-O-Lectric motors, I won on eBay, disassembled, cleaned, repaired, and running yesterday and today without any screaming. Lot's of LOUD talking, however. Doug
I know. Been busy with work and woodworking. To be honest I've not done a large amount of modeling lately but I'm getting the urge to do more now. I'm still slowly cleaning out stuff. I'm thinking more along the line of T-Track style modules for a shelf layout. Then I can swap out things or build stuff a little easier. Probably start with a staging yard first.
I am capable of verbalizing a plethora of raunchy curses, however I usually reserve them for special occasions. Like after dropping a small part that I have been tediously crafting onto the floor for the tenth time and having to gear up with a large paint bush, a small dust pan, a bright flashlight, my magnifying visor and knee pads to go spelunking under the work station to go find it.
That is the format upon which I have settled. Using a couple of folding banquet tables. What are you cleaning out?
Windows, piece of cake, all straight pieces of wood. Call me when you install the full brake piping and rigging. That's when the screaming will start.
Lol, 40 years of crap I have dragged around that I have not used. And in the wrong scales. Stuff I saved for some reason I have already forgotten about. Stuff I'm never gonna get to. I've been going thru old magazines and scanning copies of articles I want so I can pitch the old issues away. I have boxes I haven't looked into in forever. My goal is to trim down as much of it as I can.
