Just finished painting my car carrier that I bought from Carlos Pinto on eBay. The cars on the trailer are from my own collection. I really like the way the car carrier turned out.

    Enjoy,

    John

Very nice. The detail in these is incredible. I like the cars so much I may not even put them on the carrier. Jim

Hey, John. I just noticed the cab on yours is different than the one on mine. Yours looks like an older model. Does he make two versions or did you use your own cab? Jim

Carlos markets various trucks, and I have the GMC truck. He does offer a 1949 COE as well. It appears to be a new listing.

Some may not be aware, but to see Carlo's entire offering of vehicles, simply scroll down on the listing in Ebay and click on the "See sellers other items". There is alot to chose from.

Still waiting for that Greyhound bus though......:(:(:(

Somebody will have to make Greyhound decals...I'd like a couple of them if Carlos ever makes them. He does have a lot to choose from on his site. What are 1/700 scale items used for. That is really tiny. He makes some in that scale. Jim

Last time I chatted with Carlos via Email, he noted that he was getting lots of requests for 1/700 scale, but not sure for what. Couldn't be T-Scale as it's at 1:450. And they call us "crazy" for dealing with 1:220.......

I'll echo the comments on the auto carrier truck. Very nice! Assuming the cars were boxcar loaded, as autoracks were still a few years off, or just entering the rail scene?

If I had to guess, the 1:700 stuff is probably for model ships. A lot of model ships are 1:700 scale.

I had some time over the past few weeks to work on my LIRR VW Inspection Van. The LIRR had several of these during the 1960s. The paint job is not perfect, I need to touch up some areas, but I'm satisfied with the way it turned out. Thank you Stony Smith for making the basis for this van on Shapeways!

Nicely done and an interesting subject to add to the layout. At first I was assuming the choice of a VW was to duplicate a European inspection vehicle, but then I realized this was for you LIRR layout. The picture you attached was much appreciated to clear up my confusion. I wonder if their choice of the VW was due to it's lightweight and utility ability? Or maybe low cost?

    John,
I an a regular Flickr user and found some LIRR photos that may be of use to you. Actually posted within the last 24 hours. https://www.flickr.com/photos/72256627@N03
I also recommend using the search function at top right. Amazing what you can find on Flickr.

I always fondly remember hot summer days and getting to buy some Good Humor ice cream, so I put one on my layout. Thanks to Stony Smith for designing it and for Dan Pikulski for making the decals for me.

    Enjoy!

The truck is nice but the cat on the trash can is a fantastic touch!

Thanks Joe! That's an N scale cat. I found that as long as you don't place N scale cats near other Z scale figures they work out well.

Here are some better photo of the Good Humor truck.

    Enjoy,

    John

Love the houses and the streetscene! I think the building to the right is Micro Structures / Miller Engineering, but what is the source for the others, John? The row houses, are they cast in plaster, 3D prints, or...?

    John,
Nice paint job on the car carrier! I also like the ice cream truck and scene.
Had you considered the motorized Marklin VW Bus?
