This mini diorama are 2 Artitec kits, Harbor warehouse and Utility building. They are made of resin. Combined they make an interesting business. The utility building became the office. The buildings on the left are MBZ paper kits. These are very nicely made, but hard to come across, kits from Germany. I have been waiting over a year to have B/O'd ones delivered from a US distributor. I'm happy to have these but would like more. One is a long shed and the other is a machine shop. Both are lighted. Behind the tree is another Artitec kit, half-timbered shed. The vehicles are Walt's pick-up trucks and a MicronArts Model T magically standing on 3 tyres. This was made with no particular place to go. I have used Letramax paper to create the asphalt patches. Letramax is plied and compressed. The patch is one ply thick, painted a contrasting black and then laid on the styrene for just a hint of a bump .Ask any questions. Jim
Thanks. The glass blocks were not planned. The kit comes with embossed metal window inserts. Various washes give it this appearance. A happy accident. Jim
It certainly does look like glass block! Now that looks like the type of kit you could go back to back with two kits to really sell the heavy industry too.
That would work. They are heavy though. They are solid. The real drawback is not being able to alter them very much. Artitec was kind enough to cast it with the 2 doors as seen, giving it some animation. I added the roof exhaust from a Kibri 6770 factory kit. There is another resin kit in this series of waterfront buildings from Artitec. Jim
This look really good. I like it. I would fill in space beetwen rails - over the ties. It looks that warehouse is served by trucks from the railway side. It is not possible in this configuration. I like Artitec kits.
Thanks, Pawel. The space between the rails will be filled in with styrene so vehicles can drive over the rails. The back of the building looks the same. I ordered some paving inserts from MBZ ages ago but they are still on back order. It is really difficult to get MBZ products in the USA. I am hoping for something that is already cut and shaped for this. As it is now I use 2 separate pieces of styrene to get it up to the rail height. One is 1mm and the other is .5mm. I am not a huge fan of resin kits but some are better than others, for sure. Artitec produces some that are interesting enough to use for US prototype railroading.
