I've been 'tinkering' with making some 'workshop assesories'.

Here you can see a few items almost complete.

From left to right: (front row) A metal workbench...an old wooden workbench....a parts washing station...the propane tank I will be making an air compressor out of.

Back row From left to right: A washer/dryer combo (yes...I worked at a shop that had one...lol). A personal locker...a parts locker...and a small shelving unit. I have some more 'personal lockers' and 'parts lockers' to make along with more shelving.


Here they are placed on the floor of the workshop. They havent been glued down yet until I decide on final placement. Disregard the roof laying precariously on the leaning signal tower.

You can also see the 1/8 brass tubing just outside of the building that the small wire for the led shop lights runs up through.


Here they are from on open roof view.

You can also see the roof taken off the buiding and laid over the back. This is so I can remove the building from the foundation to do precisely what I'm doing now...working inside the shop ;-)

You can also see the wiring coming out of the 1/8 brass tubing and connected to the leds glued to the shop ceiling.


Here is a peek into the shop from the south 2 rollup doors (not installed...yet)



Here is the south side of the shop. You can see the tank on stilts just outside the shop that holds clean solvent for the parts washing station that is just inside the shop behind that center wall ;-)


Well....back to the workbench and some more 'tinkering'....lol

One question, is that washing machine a Lego block?

 

Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh...everything but the propane tank was made from Lego Blocks !!

Just cut off the 'nub' and glue on a thin piece off a plastic for sale sign....and

I am right now using a double long RED block to make a BIG Snap On tool box !!

Using my "N-Man" as a height gauge...I am making sure the Snap on Tool Boxes are going to work !!!

When I had my Lego City (with a train of course) I didn't get a tornado running through it, I had an issue with KittenZilla! When I left for work all my Lego people were going about their comic lives just as they were the day before. A LegoTuber was on her phone streaming something on the roof of her building, and Her little dog got chased onto a building rooftop by a cat. There was a Armored truck driver delivering the cash to the bank, but not noticing some fell from his hand truck, or that there were thieves busting into his armored truck taking the rest of the $$$ there. All was well in Lego City!

When I got home from work I immediately knew there was an issue. As I opened the door, I noticed there was a Lego Chihuahua in the entry way... Then I get into the living room where the city lives and found total mayhem! buildings were missing floors, trains were derailed, people were flung all over the place. There wasn't a piece of the layout that wasn't damaged in some way. The kitten knew when I came home that he was in trouble... And never went on the layout again!

 

Those look cool. Are you going to take it to the next level and paint lines to represent the drawers?

 

I have been working on the drawer 'handles' all day. Even my wife who does oil and water color painting doesnt have a hand steady enough to draw those teeny-tiny lines ! I even went so far as to sribe lines with a hobby knife and used 'metallic' fingernail polish. No joy THE WIFE is trying to tell me to let the fingerrnail polish dry really hard before sanding the excess off the block...and hopefully leaving enough in the scribe line to look alright. Tommorrow I will go at it again

 

I have some detail parts sitting in my parts box that will never get used. My Engine house is at the back of the layout. Workbench tops and various tools like grinders etc. Also a big engine block that you can hang from that hoist or take a junk engine and strip it down so the block shows.

Wellllllllllll...numerous attempts at scribbing the small lego bock and using spray paint or fingernail polish to indicate individual drawers just didnt work. . Finding pictures online of a snap on box that isnt distorted proved futile too. All the pictures are narrower at the bottom then the top. I suppose its just the way pictures turn out. The plan was to print a really small picture of a tool box and then glueing it on the lego block. .

Of course THE WIFE had to give her .02 worth. " Can't you just put the tool boxes in the middle of the building between the tracks...and say they are faceing the BACK of the building? " So me being DUH says "OK...what does that prove?" She laughs and sets the tool boxes on the dining room table and took my 'n-man' and put him on the other side of them facing them. "See...he is in front of the tool boxes where the drawers are now and all you see from this side is the back of the boxes...no drawers...no problem." Then she went back to drinking her coffee.

Just stop overthinking things George !!!

 

Another way to do it would be take some narrow styrene strip paint it silver and then glue it on. Would suggest using 0.010 x 0.020.

 

Not sure exactly how thin that is...but...it would have to nearly finer than frog hair to make lines thin enough to indicate drawer seperations on an n scale tool box . ....lol

HHhhhhmmmmm... I may have t look into getting some and see if it will work for drawer handles. Is that from evergreen plastics or whoever else sells it ?? Thanxs John...

 

There is also very thin rod which will work also for the lines and the chrome edges. Look for some in the package of detail parts I am sending.

 

I would have settled for drawing lines with a mechanical pencil long ago. It would look fine from the point of view of a mark 1 eyeball but wouldn't withstand the merciless point of view of a macro lens.
