This is my favorite new addition. A 2 foot section with a working "Drive In Movie". It is made with a 2 inch Addifruit LCD screen. Set up with Gone with the wind playing from DVD.
Looks good. I like the draw bridge. I can relate to the duck-under thing, my knees do not handle things like that any more.
Examples of the wiring. Main buss wires are #12 with Anderson Power Pole connectors, red and black. AC Aux. buss is #12 or #14 with Anderson Power Pole connectors in white. Feeder wires are #20. I ran out of black and red feeder wire and had to switch to white and red. It was all I could find at the time. All modules can be installed in either direction and the Power Pole connecters still line up. The DCC center is a Digitrax DCS100 feeding a PM42 for the mains. Then a DB150 feeding 2 more PM42's set up for reversing sections. Included is a PR3 USB interface, a program booster and an Atlas turnout controler. Not shown is my laptop running JMRI and using the WiFi throttle.
It has its own power pack that must be connected in order for the relay to allow the DCC to the track. When open it cuts power to the track on the module to prevent accidents.
I am working on a "Y" module that will be the "Point of Rocks" station and a balloon module that will hold a Walthers turntable with full DCC control and a 13 stall ( I think it is 13 stalls) roundhouse I kitbashed together to sort of represent the one that used to be in Brunswick Md. I know I broke my own rules on the balloon size, but I can move it by myself OK. I carefully drilled out the Point of Rocks station and added lights. I used magnet wire, a DC to DC buck, 4 diodes as a full wave rectifier and out of production Miniatronics 0.75 1.5volt axial lamps. Oh yea, please forgive all the mess, this is a work in progress.
Nice work on the bridge, layout and everything! We all can appreciate your "Geezer Gate", as it makes getting in so much easier. Ducking under is a young man's game, and I'm too old to play.
I try to keep it neat, that way any problems are easy to find and correct. So far all my wiring has been 100% perfectly working.
Thank for the complements. I have a form of arthritis that was really making the duck under a pain. I wish I had better pictures of the gate. It really makes life easy getting in and out of the center area. I would recommend anyone to build something like this if they need it. Truly a life saver.
I built a similar device when I had a lift out section to an HO scale railroad I built in a shed. When I would unplug the lift out section any train on the path of fall would stop well before the tracks ended. This worked perfectly and I would wire another setup like that again. I also like your wiring job. I am a stickler for neat and easy to decipher wiring. If you were to look at some of my builds you will see that. I am needing now to build some type of interface for my T-Trak modules for when I run them off the club's setup. I am in the process of working that out now.
A few years have passed us by now. I have cleaned up the train room to get ready for a Christmas party. Also, I picked up new indoor/outdoor carpet for the area. I want to show off some of my work and run trains again.
Thanks. It was a lot of fun putting lights on that. I'm not sure what these buildings are made out of, but you can cut and drill though it.
