I've been sick with a stomach flu for the last week and haven't worked on the trestle or anything else. Starting to feel better this afternoon.

Sorry to hear that Joe! Glad you are starting to feel better. That stomach flu can be some nasty stuff. Take care of yourself my friend.

I'm all better after a week and a half of battling stomach flu. So I'm working on the steel trestle this afternoon and just have one more section to build. Will post photos later this evening.

I finished the steel trestle span this evening and will build the support towers tomorrow morning. In the bottom photo the bridge is upside down to attach each section to the others. Sorry for poor quality photos, wasn't able to get better lighting tonight.

Nice start! Definitely not a small trestle.

The trestle is 320 scale feet long, 24 inches.

That looks great Joe. I'm glad you're feeling better. I've been anxious to see some pictures of your trestle. It looks great!

Cynthia and I are moving October 24th to a new apartment in Tulsa because rent here is going up, new place is less than what we're paying now. The bedroom for the layout is larger so I can expand it a little bit.

Really glad the layout is in modules to make it easier to move, the only thing I need to do is ballest track where modules connect together so I can cut the track. Fortunately we have time to do everything required for the move.

Good luck with the move Joe! Same as Kurt, I'd help if I was close enough. Also cool that you will get more layout space!

Before cutting the rails superglue them to the ties on either side of the cut. Helps avoid ripping them off the spikes.

Moving is never fun, but more layout space makes it a plus. Good luck!

Mr @Joe Lovett Your skill always impresses me. Very exciting watching the progress here. That steel bridge is going to be killer !! Glad to hear your better !

Moving blows. Glad to hear you can make prior adjustments.

I made it a point up until a few years ago (which will haunt me when I move from my current location) to always be able to pack my crap in my car and disappear. lol If I ever get the chance to create another layout it will be definitely be like yours, in sections, By the way how much do you think a piece or section on your layout weighs ?

Thank you for your compliments Sam !!!

    Excellent question.

I'm thinking they weight about five pounds for modules 04 and 07 (corners) and fifteen for modules 05 and 08 (Arkansas River Bridge and gorge where the steel trestle goes). The others probably weigh about ten pounds, heaviest part is 3/4 inch Birch plywood bases. We don't have a scale to give you exact weight but I need to find out so I can replace the legs with shelf brackets. You might add five pounds to each for safety measures.

Last night I cut pieces for one tower and test fitted, also did some ballest work where the modules connect to each other so I can cut the track.

@Joe Lovett That is a lot less weight then I was expecting ! 15lbs is something but nothing near what I thought. I may be assuming when I say this but it sounds like they should be pretty easy to move around ?

Looking forward to seeing it Mr Joe ! It's a shame you have to move it but hopefully when you get settled in the new place You can add the final touches !
