While the premium Priority Mail Express service has always come with a money-back guarantee for late deliveries, Retail Priced (with $50.00 of included package insurance) and discounted Commercial Priced (with $100.00 of included package insurance) Priority Mail has never been afforded any service guarantees.

Along with the message "Alert: As a result of the ongoing COVID-19 emergency, certain packages may take longer than usual to arrive. Priority Mail Express overnight service is unaffected". per the USPS.COM Priority Mail 1-3 Business Days & Flat Rate Pricing page, foot note one reads as follows, "In most cases, the expected delivery date printed on your receipt or provided at checkout will reflect a delivery time of 1, 2, or 3 business days and is based on origin, destination, and drop-off time. The expected delivery data does not come with a money-back guarantee."

The United States Postal Service Industry Alert of April 17, 2020 states the following:

Effective April 17, 2020:The Postal Service’s flagship Priority Mail Express service, which guarantees overnight service, will not change.

Service commitments for local 1-day Priority Mail will not change.Priority Mail's two and three day service commitments now will be extended to three and four days respectively.

Customers will continue to receive end-to-end visibility and improved product tracking, as well as up to $50 in free insurance.

With the extra day extension, customers should expect delivery using Priority Mail Open and Distribute (PMOD) to range from two to four days nationwide.

First-Class Package Service (FCPS)two and three day service commitments will also be extended to three and four days respectively.

Although the Service Industry Alert document does predate the appointment of the new postmaster, USPS product tracking has actually worsened; not improved over the past several months.

While I have not noticed any major delays in my outbound Priority Mail shipments, packages are no longer being scanned at the local post office branch that they were dropped off at.

Initial scans are now taken at USPS sort centers and there can be a 24-48 hour delay before any tracking data appears online.

Tracking information for both my inbound and outbound shipments is usually incomplete and delivery may actually occur a day later than what is reported online.

In addition, while in transit to the addressee, there are several additional stops at USPS sort centers that have never previously appeared in the tracking results for parcels that were formerly sent to the same locations.

For those of you who frequently ship parcels through the US Postal Service, reading this additional post could end up saving you (as it does me) quite a bit of money on your annual postage costs.

Note: Provided to the community solely as useful information, extremely pleased with the in the cloud, no commitment, fee free postage service that has been provided thus far, I earn no endorsement fees from Pirate Ship!

As explained on the Pirate Ship USPS has renamed "Commercial Plus Pricing" to "Commercial Pricing page, US Postal Service rates formerly had three pricing tiers:

On January 27th 2019, USPS merged the "Commercial Base" and "Commercial Plus Pricing" categories, creating one "Commercial Pricing" discount level, which are the deepest discounts available when shipping with the U.S. Postal Service.

1.Retail Pricing was (and still is) the most expensive shipping rate pricing tier, and it’s what you’ll pay if you purchase postage directly from USPS® at the Post Office or on USPS.com.

2.Commercial Base Pricing® (also known as CBP pricing) was the discounted pricing you’d receive by using traditional shipping software, with savings of up to 39% compared to retail prices. This pricing tier has now been merged with....

    3. Commercial Plus Pricing® (also known as CPP pricing) was the most discounted shipping rates USPS® offers, with savings of up to 90% for small packages through a secret service this pricing level unlocks, Priority Mail Cubic®.

Commercial Base Pricing and Commercial Plus Pricing have now been merged into one pricing tier, Commercial Pricing.

Some USPS® shipping services (like First Class Package®) have always only had two pricing tiers; Retail and Commercial. Other services (like Media Mail®) have never had any discounts available.

To get Commercial Pricing directly from the United States Postal Service you used to need to ship at least 50,000 packages/year, go through a long contract and account setup process with USPS, and then pay a middleman to provide software so you can buy postage with your account (USPS doesn't provide any free software for commercial shipping).

You need to ship a minimum 50,000 packages a year.. I wonder how much eBay fees that translates to?

Pirate Ship looks promising...USPS is very clunky in some respects.

Fascinating. I haven't shipped a package in a while; when I have, I've brought it to the counter and gotten it scanned right there. I wonder if that will happen next time?

Thanks for the tip on Pirate Ship also!

Ok, now I am mad, and going semi political. This is not an opinion, but stating what was said. President Trump said that he is defunding the USPS to stop mail in voting.

"They want $25 billion for the post office. Now, they need that money in order to have the post office work so it can take all of these millions and millions of ballots. Now, in the meantime, they aren't getting there. But if they don't get those two items, that means you can't have universal mail-in voting because they're not equipped to have it."

Defunding the Post Office also affects small businesses, mailing in your bills, waiting for your Social Security checks...it is more than just voting. I am getting off of my soap box now, and I will drive my ballet to the county election center.

Well the first Japanese firm is still sitting on my order while the 2nd one has shipped two orders now and is getting ready to ship a 3rd. I am going to give them one more week to get off their honorable duffs and ship it out by DHL as I have requested almost a month ago now or I will create honorable cancellation of order.

    You're welcome.

Although there may be some resistance on the part of some of the clerks who are managing USPS service counters, upon request, packages that are brought to the counter are still scanned at local post offices.

Forgot to mention that if you link your eBay account(s) with Pirate Ship, you can click a link within the application and import all of the customer shipping information directly from eBay.

While you must still enter the package size and weight and select the USPS service that you need, on eBay sales, there is no need to copy and paste and/or type in the customer name and delivery address.

Additionally, in order to comply with eBay seller protection requirements, the application will automatically export the parcel tracking information to the site for you.

Finally hit a delay package. I shipped one Monday and it made it from GA to Oregon in 3 days but a package coming to me mailed that same day from Missouri hasn't arrived. Tracking update this morning shows it's at lease here in town now. No rhyme or reason when it comes to shipping small packages I guess.

Was going to take a photo or two of mine.
I gotta major issue now! The sides have curled!!
Whatever was used to adhere the sides to the car, didn't hold for long!
Gonna get in touch about it. Before this, it was a great looking car!

    Contacted Lowell Smith, about car!
Said it's happened to a couple other cars.
Wants me to send back and he will replace car!

    woo woo woo ?

I guess its my turn for serious shipping delays.

I bought a different item off E Bay from Japan 6 days ago and still no indication that it shipped. I may have to wait until October 10th !! Sellers get pissy when you are slow to pay, my turn to get pissy when they are slow to ship !

Gonna find out if there’s delays in sending letters!
Dropped one off in the mail earlier, headed to California.
I’m thinking Monday or Tuesday, unless the Post Office thinks otherwise!

I can vouch for a current delay for a small package (6x9 envelope, shipped first class four days ago). USPS tracking shows "in transit", having departed yet another distribution center here in town.

Bonus: The package is being shipped ACROSS TOWN; not even departing the state, much less county. I should have driven it there, I guess...

The USPS uses the hub system like the airlines. Sometimes you have to go past the destination before coming back to it. It's more "efficient".
