Next up was painting more wheels.

Finished up all the truck tractors that I have found so far and moving on to a pair of box trucks and then into trailers. Don't even want to think about how many trailers there are to do.

Another undertaking was recessing this controller into the foam in prep for the fascia that is yet to be applied. This is the DC or DCC switch that allows for having both power supplies connected while still being able to isolate them from one another. Cool item.

    dcdcc.JPG

The rest of the controls will be mounted in fascia just below where that wafer board base is. Anything surface mount will be higher. I wanted this particular one higher so I can mount a throttle pocket on each side. One for the DC throttle and one for DCC throttle.

Once the fascia is in and the controls mounted, it will be time to turn my attention to the chemical plant. here are some raw components. Not sure how the exact layout will be or what all else will get added so open to suggestions.

From that, I'll leave you with this shot of SP 4449 making a special move. Here we see her passing a pair of BNSF geeps

And the creative genius gets the kid involved, too! The CFO sees the kid learning a skill in an up and coming industry, and you get your parts! Win, win is how to sell that!

Anycubic Photon is what I and several others on TB own. They're on sale on Anycubic.com, too. I buy from Amazon tyypically.

Awesome work! What a HUGE difference! That fascia hid the pink foam really well. :ROFLMAO: When all four sides are done, you can take some of the green paint and paint the screw heads so they don't catch the eyes.

A few ideas to float by you....

    1/8" Rigid Vinyl for U-Channel

    1/8" Styrene Plastic U-Channel

    Aluminium U-shaped Equal channel (H)8mm (W)8mm (L)2m

1/4" Black Split Wire Loom Tubing

Dont laugh at the last one...think about it. Its split for wrapping over bunches of wires. Being split it will 'zip' right down over the edge of the fascia. (y)

    Just thinking outside the box...

Indeed it is sir! That's why I named the town Vulcan. I'd actually like to do a steel mill model but space is not there for it so I have to live with that as a background industry. The chemical plant is just a small foreground industry to add some variety.

I would leave the edges alone. They already look good so why spend extra time and money???

(See, I don't always create extra work for you. :D:p:rolleyes::ROFLMAO::LOL:)

Happy Monday morning world! LOL, Ye, yes, I know there is no such thing as a "Happy" Monday but every Monday brings on the quest of trying to make it to the next weekend :)

Over this past weekend, I managed to get the rest of the fascia applied. Still have some touch up work to do before calling it done. Here is a look at all 4 sides now.

I also went on a wheel painting binge. 75+ trailers done this weekend. Maybe another 50 or so to go.

Lastly, I pulled out my Daylight passenger cars to run behind my GS4. Most still had the original horn hook couplers. I pulled out a pack of Unimate couplers and went to work. I got all the cars done but one and it had a broken coupler pocket on one truck. Looking up at my wall of stuff that either needs to be used or find a new home, I found a set of M/T 4 wheel passenger trucks. I think to myself that this is perfect. I can fix the broken truck and also upgrade the lead for easy coupling to the GS4.
    20200816_130516_resized.jpg

After an hour, I remembered why these were still in the package. It's because I can never get the coupler attached to the trucks. These accursed things are beyond my fat fingers and very slightly shaky hands to put together. Why oh why doesn't M/T sell these with the couplers already attached....why!!!!! So, that one car went back in the box and so did the trucks. Maybe I'll try some Kato trucks...…

The rest of the cars are on the layout and the train ran great. Now, I'm off to crawl back under my rock!

That's a lot of trailers! You must have a real assembly line going...

More of a mass confusion line really.

Here is a shot of the intermodal yard on my old layout. It should give you an idea of the real volume of trailers and it's not even all of them. Maybe 80% of the fleet needed wheels painted.
    20180409_210022.jpg
Speaking of trailers, here are the faux pup trailers I mentioned a few post back. My never ending project. :D They look good until you put them next to the ones Athearn put out not long after I started these.
