I know many of us have been to Steamtown so thought I would start a thread to share some pics from there. Please post your shots. Here are some of mine from December 2006
Thanks for these BNSF FAN. Those freight cars are jewels and I particularly dig the DL&W 2-Bay hopper with authentic-looking load of anthracite. When I was first there in '82, Steamtown had not yet arrived and when I visited again in '85, not much had improved. From May '82, that's Bridge 60 Tower to the right and the Shops beyond. The roundhouse photo is from July '85 before anything had been done to it. Instead of a turntable bridge, initial plans incorporated a rotating stage for a dance troupe. Thankfully that ridiculous feature was quashed early on.
These two are from July '85, with a Steamtown trip underway east of Scranton at Nay Aug Tunnel. The other is of fine looking MEC Consol 519.
I also with my sons, 50 years ago this month. Boy, time sure flies. Love to see it in Scranton. It's on my bucket list if this pandemic ever eases.
