Here's another one regarding model railroading, how about the poster of a completed model who won't share their weathering techniques when someone asks. See this on another popular (primarily HO board) all the time. Like they actually hold themselves in some sort of elite esteem and won't give away their coveted secrets. Give me an effin break!

Then there's also those who are full-on train bullies. Those condescending individuals who throw around insults and such on this same (other) forum site. You know the ones, they'll actually call you an idiot for asking a question or expressing a ack of knowledge on a given subject. News flash....nobody gets to be a model train "tough guy".

Corn kernels stick in my craw. Literally.

Cream corn sticks in my craw metaphorically. I don't like it.

Guess I'm stuck with tortilla chips.

People who glue together kits that basically snap together and manufacturers who glue everything down so tight you cannot get it off without breaking it. Have spent 3 hours trying to get three cars ready to go in the stripper. Still on the third one.

I have cars made from kits. Quite a few. I can get them apart.

    They are not for sale.

I hate when a European train is shown on a television show but it’s supposed to be American.
As far as model railroading goes, it bugs the crap out of me when a frequent mystery derailment occurs while going over a certain turnout only when a visitor is there.

People who ask for my advice or help and then ignore it.
Newbies helping newbies to make the same mistakes. Oh, you can make a mistake. I certainly have learned from mine.
Guys who hate guys that give advice. Even if when they asked for it.
Mythbusters who think they can prove everybody else wrong.
Ignorance of the facts when presented.

The confusion in the ranks of American Modelers when it comes to railroad lingo. European lingo gets used all to often. We aren't in Europe. But I love what they are doing in Europe.

I do agree, it's your railroad, you make the rules, you set the standard and only you can enjoy it.

    See signature.

Yeah, what's the deal with that??? When I'm by myself nothing derails...ever! I had a couple visitors recently and I had three derailments in the span of 1 or 2 minutes!

You have to watch those wandering fingers when the visitors are there. It took a security camera to catch a so called friend of mine. He was sticking his fingers under the car to derail the wheels in the truck. He couldn't stand that my layout ran smoothly and his didn't.

Having driven across this country 5 different times in a car or truck and halfway across on a motorcycle I can say I found both good and bad truckers. In all honesty I found that truckers were usually the most courteous of the people on the road. What I found was the worst of the bunch was Prius drivers. I don't know what it is but they would ride my tail (especially when I was on my Harley) swerve in and out of traffic, pass at insane speeds and would also pace you in your blind spot (my least favorite).

My last trip was Tacoma to Phoenix Via I-5, CA-58, I-40 and US-93 on my motorcycle. While in Stockton CA traffic was flying at over 100mph and I got passed by 3 different Prius's while my bike was about pegged at 110. I got passed by other vehicles as well but all 3 of the Prius's changed lanes in front of me with less than a car length between and there was 4 or 5 lengths between me and the next vehicle, and really no need to change lanes as there was no one in front of them for the same 4 or 5 car lengths. I guess I was going too slow for them. I told my riding buddy (via helmet intercom) that this was getting stupid and dangerous and I'm moving over to the right and slowing down. I was in the middle lanes not the far left which was going even faster than the lanes I was in. I got behind a truck on the right doing around 70 and even though I was buffeted by the wind pretty bad it still felt much safer than the traffic just 2 lanes over.

On all the trips I have done across country I have only had one a--hole trucker. It was my first trip and he changed lanes for no reason I could figure while I was coming up on his trailer. No on-ramp, no slower traffic in front of him, he just changed into the left lane (2 lane portion of I-40W) I got pushed off to the shoulder, slowed down and got in behind him. I flashed my lights to let him know I was there and he brake checked me, locking up the trailer's wheels in the process. I tried passing him then on the right side and I got about half way up his trailer and he pushed me off the side of the road again. At this point I called 911, and soon after I had that states highway patrol behind me and I went to pass the truck for a 3rd time and once again got about half way up the trailer and he ran me off the road again. This time he got lit up by the officer. This whole event was over a 30 or so mile run. I pulled in behind the officer and he came up to my car and asked if I was the one that called 911, I said yes and he asked what had happened. I told him and he said I could go, and to drive safe. I don't know what happened to that driver but he didn't like me or my 86 Olds Cutlass for some reason. I know you guys are going to say I was doing something to provoke him but I had just been traveling at around 70 (speed limit and where my mileage doesn't suffer too bad) and trucks were limited to 60. There was light traffic and he let others pass but would block me when I tried. That was my only bad experience while traveling cross country. Oh and sorry so long.
