Probably not an issue in a small town like this. Maybe one window pane would be broken, and boarded up by winter time. Broken glass is a high population density social issue. What you would find in a town like this is junk. Lots of junk. When a car stopped running, it was probably just left for the forest to reclaim it. When a semaphore got updated, the old one probably was set alongside the tracks or next to a structure somewhere to rust away.

After 3 full 12+ hour days of trying to learn Arduino code, I give up. I can control LED's, and I can control sound, but I cannot sync the 3 LED welder with the 3 sound file welding sounds all on 1 Arduino. I just cannot grasp coding. I can only do the most basic stuff, and I get so frustrated that I have a smash attack. I tried watching all of Toms Trains and Things Arduino Made Easier videos, but after video 2 I get lost and forget what I learned in the previous lessons. I can mess with the sketches in the videos, but if I try to change things like add features, I start getting code errors I cannot recover from. I will trade laser engraving and design or decal printing and design with someone who can put the 3 LED arc welder and dfplayer welding sounds all on 1 arduino mini. It's less than 50 lines of simple code, but my brain is not wired for the task.

That is not encouraging news Robert. I was hoping to follow your lead when you completed your set up. I'm never in a rush so I will wait until I can visit the experts in Needham, MA and tell them exactly what I want. I want to consolidate and dim the brightness only of the LED's. Meanwhile I will move on to something else. I thought the same thing when I started watching the instructional videos, "Why so many videos if this is supposed to be easy?" I know much, much less about computers and programming than you. So I will pass on this project until the timing is better. That is, until this "crisis" is over and I can consult. I'm going camping in the mountains this weekend. 4 of us are defying the system so we can camp and fish where no people have been this year. We sneak out of town Friday morning while all the protesters are keeping law enforcement busy downtown. We'll take highway 21 up to an undisclosed Forest Service Road 2 miles from the Boise County checkpoint to skirt that roadblock, and 4 wheel several miles till we can get back on 21 near Grimes Creek. Out here, shotguns and buck knives, we disappear in the woods at sunrise. Way out here where the law don't be patrolling, you can throw back beer, raise hell, no one will know it, that's how we do it out here!
I'm so sorry to disappoint. Early in the morning I get glimpses of clarity, where i can see exactly how to overcome the code issues, and I immediately start typing in and mixing light and sound code, then the fog of old age sets in, and i loos it. After messing with code a bit more, I have everything jumbles and poof! I have to start over. Last night Arlin called me and said we are sneaking out of town to let off some steam, and I said I am in!
I'm not disappointed at all. Actually, I'm a bit relieved. The first "easy" video had my head swimming. I'm expecting a delivery from ZSM today so there will be other, easier things to work on. I'm hoping to get a few of the Grove kits from RSLaser and start another block on my Columbus Avenue module which I will incorporate the Capen House building as well as a kit-bash of the unassembled kits you donated to the cause. No actual plans just a few ideas on it, thus far. As far as getting out of the house to let off steam, Go for it. On Sunday my wife and I took a walk along the Neponset River and did some birdwatching, BTW. Wearing a mask doesn't help in this endeavor. It fogs up the lenses of my glasses. We have been distracted by a pair of nesting bald eagles, though we did not see them on Sunday. Nice to see them on the edge of the city. We've always had ospreys but now they have serious competition.There will be dog fights in the sky, for sure. I can't wait to witness that. Be well. Jim
Yup gotta get out and enjoy nature, especially now. We may be in trouble but the birds and the bees are doing just fine Of course in CA we are very progressive, all state parks closed including very remote dirt bike OHV areas. I used to ride a lot, finally gave up after one too many crashes! Maybe I’m lucky, I still get to work, at the airport now flying to LAS and ATL today. Yup, I drive it. It’s awfully quiet these days though. FWIW a normal flying schedule for me is four three day trips, maybe a four day, for April my line was reduced to one two day trip, same for May, and my average passenger load is probably about 10-15.
Hi, Eric. We all got to hang in there. I'm glad you are still getting some work. We live on the south approach to Logan Airport and it has been eerily silent for weeks now. Usually the planes start coming in a 5am and don't stop until 9-10pm. One every 2-3 minutes when it is busy. I can't say I miss it but will let you know when it resumes. I still go into work each day to check on things. Still getting paid for a full week but not sure how long this will last. I am grateful for that. Yes, nature does have a way to soothe the soul. I commented recently to a friend how magnificent the magnolia looked in full bloom, totally unaware of our troubles. Life does go on. Our bird feeders have lots of visitors. Doves, red winged blackbirds, grackles, jays and I even saw a red fox sparrow. I can knock him off my list. Be well. Stay safe. Jim
I spent the day digging out camping gear, and by late afternoon it windy and started raining, and has been raining and blowing solid ever since. That's going to turn those mountain forest service roads into a nightmare. Rains are supposed to lift by tonight, and it's supposed to warm up but remain cloudy this weekend, and then next week heat up to 85! The rain, I love the rain, but not just before I go camping: So today I am going to bash my head around the Arduino again, since I can do little else. It's hard to believe that it's been so warm and sunny all week, that the weather can just turn on a dime and try to wash out my camping trip plans. Yesterday was like this, I get my truck ready for a roadtrip: It' such a nice day that I decide to imbibe before sorting out the camping gear and loading up the truck: And today I contemplate my next Arduino code changes to get my Sound and Lights to operate on 1 Arduino.
