Thinking about this for quite a while, and then, knowing the stimulus check was coming... well look what arrived at dinner time last night

Should be a fun day of play as I get to know this!

What did you have in mind, to create with this toy? :)

Yay! I want one too, but I have resolved to learn Arduino first. But i will get one before the year is out.

First "real" project will be printing some custom speaker enclosures - I have a group of Atlas GP7s coming for LokSound install. Also, I have a new FreeMoN module in the planning stages. Will need something like 50-70 dwarf signals for this:

Each of the rectangular sections are 2ft x 4ft (the grid lines are 3"). I have a nice H2 Signal head STL file to play with

Once I start on it, for real, I plan to create a thread for tracking progress. The two curved sections, and the green, will be completely interchangeable, and reversible. That will make for a very precise build process for the end plates.

That is a cool new toy. Looking forward to the progress tread and hearing more about how it does. (y)(y)(y)(y)

I must admit that I didn't know what a Photon S was, even with the picture. I checked it out and now I know. :) Very cool indeed!

Play a bit with Sketchup, or try AutoDesk Fusion 360 (it is free for hobbyists). There are some really good tutorials on YouTube, and it is a lot easier than I thought it would be. I started playing with F360 a couple months ago -- figured if I couldn't get the hang of it, then I would forget the idea of the printer.

What Rick said and there are tons of things you can print without knowing CAD. I'm putting my files up on thingiverse ....

    https://www.thingiverse.com/Sumner/designs

... and you can go there and search for model RR or other items and then just use the files there to print the objects. Also the same with other sites on the internet.

Then start learning a CAD program as you find the time. I have used SketchUp Make in the past but wasn't having luck with it for this purpose as it wouldn't make STL printer files directly. Downloaded Fusion 360 and love it and I'm getting more up to speed on it every day.

Here is a good video that will get you started on making something right away. Just do the steps at the same time as the video...

Not sure how I missed this thread earlier, but congrats!! I have three resin printers (two are Photons) so if you have any questions I'm happy to help. Have fun!!

Switch Point Indicator signal heads (the photos are not of the finished item, just “yay, see what I did”)
