    That steam loco sure looks good with that feedwater heater up front, all the extra pipes, and bell on the smokebox door. Love those details!

    I do indeed love the look of that steam locomotive. Great details and really just a great overall look. Aspen models always have looked great to me especially a custom scheme like this one!

    This is simply breathtaking. These pictures, your work and your art should be compiled in a book

    Hi, Sven. Very Nice!! Maybe a NHRR switcher will show up? I see the black cat. Do you see the Raven? The city of Boston put up a statue to honor Poe's birth in Park Square a few years ago. The land to the immediate left would have been all tidal flats during Poe's time in Boston. The Public Gardens occupy this spot now. The Boston & Providence RR had their first Park Square Station on the same spot (1834) It was relocated when the flats were filled and the Gardens made. Poe was born on Carver St (now gone) and was in the general area of the statue. He was not too fond of Boston and called it "Frogpondium." Enjoy. Jim showcaseminiatures (102).JPG

    I agree that your pictures of this layout deserve to be a coffee table type picture book. Large format glossy pictures galore. I imagine it would all be prohibitively expensive but as an art book it would be as good as having the actual layout on hand! And I’m sure it would appeal to non train modelers and train modelers of all scales just as much as the Z community.

    SMR,

    Where did you get or how did you make the two small empty cardboard boxes on the dock in the photo above?

    Enquiring minds need to know; where do those crates/boxes come from? I could use about 500 of them. Is it as Robert says simply laser cut and folded paper? Jim

    We picked them up at an exhibition (about 40-50 in different sizes), most likely Altenbeken 2012. It does not feel like paper, more like a metal. We use them on all our layouts, e.g.;

    A very sensitive moment - the exact alignment of the tracks between the two OPS modules - February 15 !!!

    Please also note the final arrangement of the tracks - all electronic installations successfully finished!

    Looks fantastic. Is that a modified Behnke crane ? I don't recognize it. Stay healthy. Jim

    I don't know, Jim, but I don't think it is Behnke.
    For comparison, the green and the red ones are from Behnke.

    I bought the yellow one on Ebay many years ago from Canada and never saw one like this after.
    It is a brass model.

    Thanks for the additional views. Mystery crane it is. It is a beauty. One can't have too many cranes laying around. It reminds me of work by Artitec with the cast windows. I have 4 different Behnke crane kits one of which is the same as your red rail crane. How many different kits did Behnke produce? There does not seem to be a catalog of his work. I am interested in the 1929 battery loco w/ trailer kit. It resembles one I have seen in pictures of the Purity Molasses Company of Boston plant, famous for the "Great Molasses Flood of 1919." The Union Freight RR served this business and is one of the lines I am modeling. I have never seen one available or even know when it was issued. Obtaining some Z items is a real treasure hunt. Be well. Stay Healthy. Thanks for posting. Jim
