That is one cool looking loco! How does in compare in size to the marklin 0-6-0?

    Your loco is exceptionally smooth!

Just brilliant, it runs so well and looks fantastic, the operation of the drive is nice and smooth. I also liked the way you did your video and the cool music ;)
I like how smooth the transitions are in your Rokuhan track too. Most of mine have a bump at the butts.

This is MTL track. I love it. And I don't like Rokuhan track. The switches looking like cheap toy. A benefit of MTL track is the slim rounded rail head. To small to collect any dirt.

You can see my foldable test oval here:

Thanks for your response and the video. I may have to build one of those for myself. And I really like the method you used of attaching the track. I am well invested in Rokuhan track and I love the incredible variety available. especially the larger radius curves. But maybe someday I'll try MTL track.

    Hi folks
Here is another video of the second loco. It shows how it runs over some masking tape.

    Stay healthy!

Very impressive locomotive and mechanism. That huge flywheel sure does keep it running smooth. I wish manufacturers would build all Z Scale mechanisms to run like that one. [IMG]

Does it have a capacitor "keep alive" as well as flywheel? Or is that just the flywheel power getting it over the tape? What a smooth running mechanism in any case.

It's just the flywheel effect. I'm oldschool. Capacitors do not exist in my world. :ROFLMAO:

I swear that’s amazing watching it go through that tape! Fantastic!

    I appreciate that.
I have a little track with DC loops for my Marklin trains and a DCC loop for my AZL and MTL DCC locos. They are both fun but I realize now that I enjoy the simple direct nature of DC and working on the Marklin loco mechanics. My first Marklin locos were all older ones and I spent a lot of time under the hood with them, but they all run great now! So I like hardware.
Hours spent fussing with DCC programming don’t seem so rewarding. But I have not been lucky in that department. My DCC experience has not been “set and forget”. I’m not sure I like software.
