The search engine doesn't seem to be working, so I am posting a new thread. Any suggestions on the yellow acrylic paint to purchase to match old Caterpillar Yellow. Preferably at a Michaels or Hobby Lobby.
There are a few different yellows made by Model Master. The current Chrome Yellow is a bright, clear yellow, and some people say the Blue Angel Yellow is good too. It is a bit darker than the Chrome. On the Scale Auto forum, someone mentioned MM Bright Yellow, but that one might be discontinued. If you want it from your local Hobby Lobby, go and see what they have. The one by my house does not carry the entire line, so you may have to order a certain color. I usually match it visually. You might be able to get more accurate colors by mixing, but that is pretty advanced, and without a color chart, isn’t really worth it. Caterpillar itself sells touch-up paint in spray cans. You can’t get more accurate than that, but it may be too thick for a model, depending on the scale.
I got a spray can of john deere green and yellow. sprayed the paint in to a plastic cup. then poured it in to cleaned out floguil bottles. now i can thin it. I use it in my bager air brush to paint my GHQ farm equipment. It works great.
Not acrylic but you can buy a rattle can of Cat yellow touch up paint at any Cat equipment dealer and do like ns737 did with the John Deere colors.
