Just learned today from Mike Phillips that the 2020 Altoona N Scale Weekend event has been cancelled due to the venue raising their rates to a level where it was financially impossible to go forward. Mike is looking for another venue but given the late date and the lack of appropriate facilities in the general area it doesn't look promising. This is a real bummer as the Altoona event was a great event for N scalers. Hopefully it will be back next year.

I heard the same thing a few weeks ago. However, on the bright side Mike has secured a location (not Jaffa) for 2021.

Mike didn't say anything about 2021. I'll ask him tomorrow. He is at the Greenberg Show in Monroeville, PA this weekend (Feb 22-23).

Okay, spoke to Mike Phillips. Here is the deal, He's located a facility for 2021. It is an indoor sports facility that will be bigger than the venue in Altoona. They will not offer him a contract until at least seven months before the requested dates. So everything is tentative for 2021 but 2020 has been cancelled.

Glad to hear he found a place. Too bad it was too late to get it for this year. I had missed the last two and was excited to go this year. I guess I have another year to save more cash to spend :D

This is truly sad news. I look forward to the annual N scale Weekend in Altoona. It's a chance to catch up with fellow modelers I've met via the different model railroad forums.

Isn't that a LITTLE close to the date of the Show? Will SEVEN months do for lead TIME? Hate to hear at the seven month day that He could not get the dates he wanted. "We've already leased the location on that date, SORRY" famous spoken words. And we had a terrible time finding a location for our 1 DAY Train Show & Sale. We have already signed a contract for our two shows in 2021.

Bad news for 2020. Let's hope Mike can pull off 2021. Any idea if the venue will still be in Altoona?
It's a great show so I guess we'll have to hold hope for next year.

You might want to try the Ohio N Scale Weekend in Columbus on May 16-17, 2020. Same general format as Altoona.

The Ohio N Scale Weekend is a great show. This year will be 11th year to bring a layout. Just went the 1st year to look, found out to late to show. Some that attend Altoona also go to Ohio weekend.
