I intend to finish diagnostics to determine how many components (lights, motor, etc) have lost their smoke and attempt a decoder transplant of one that still contains its original smoke. I did snip the wires to the motor and touched them to a 9v battery as a test. Nothing. I'm hoping my battery is dead. I haven't tried the battery on another old dc loco yet.
update: My train tester (9v batter) was, in fact dead. New train tester shows both light bulbs and motor are still functional. Next step is the brain transplant. I'll see if I can do it with getting any blisters on my fingers!
