That 0-6-0 steamer, with those couplers, was made no earlier than 1938. If everything shown was actually part of a set, then probably 1938-1942 time frame. After WWII, they only made O gauge trains for a year or so, before dropping that size for the S trains.

I know almost nothing about American Flyer. I see three rails. I wonder if their O Gauge trains were AC? I think their S Scale was DC?

All AC. Except, some of their late stuff, after AC Gilbert sold out, I believe was both AC and DC capable. I had a few pieces of the late stuff. Really cheapo, junky. And the reason the line went out of business. AF also had some HO.

The Loco & Tender were cataloged 38 to 40. It is a 3/16 Scale 3-Rail engine that will run on Lionel track. Would have to do more research about if it is part of a set, has extra cars, etc. Looks to be in very good condition overall. I would say the loco & tender worth about $225. This is based upon old numbers and the fact that there has been a drop in sale prices due to the younger generations not having as much interest. 15 years ago I think you could gotten more - I know, me too....
