From 1981 are two shots taken at Middletown, NY on the Middletown & New Jersey. I'm not sure why a Warrenton caboose from North Carolina was working in New York, but there it was and in beautiful condition too.

No, SP. The horizontal headlight with the UDE blank out gives it away. Plus where the Gyra was.

Located on the Erie main, Waldwick, NJ was an interesting spot to explore with it's 1887 depot, interlocking tower and yard. Happily, the depot and tower have been preserved. These shots are from 1982.

RDCs at Waldwick and a push-pull train arriving. This was one of the few times in my life where I saw a prototype and went that afternoon to a local hobby shop to buy the model -- Con-Cor's new N Scale RDC. With the push-pull, I'm not sure if he had brake trouble or if he came in a bit too hot.

Yes, Dom, by the Middletown & New Jersey. Maybrook is in the upper right on the branch to Montgomery. The once tiny road with the 44-Tonner as seen above has since greatly expanded its operations. Such a nice thing to see! (y)

One of my mediocre slides from 1983 was of a mystery structure in eastern PA, labeled with only a guess as to where it was taken in the cement region. With a bit of research, I finally hit paydirt -- the L&NE's yard office at Bath, PA. It does not appear on mapping sites that I can see, so I'm pretty sure it's gone today.

I was doing some "drive by" rail fanning today. Found this along Texas Highway 36 between Wallis and Sealy. You can turn down the volume if you don't like what was playing on the radio.;)

I wonder if that dead line was caused by BNSF adopting PSR? I'd heard that CSX had stored a bunch of power because of PSR.

I don't know, most of those units were used in coal service on unit trains. The genset units were used in switching.

A lot of coal power is idled due to the downturn in the coal economy. I wouldn't pin it specifically on PSR.

    "Action Red Transfer"
A CP transfer pulls interchange traffic for BNSF east past the Minot, ND Amtrak station.
