I thinks it looks good, gonna try this myself in a place or two. The thick build up and ragged edges are not at all uncommon. SP Lark Grey is also a good color. But the dark color is totally appropriate here, I mean it is an asphalt plant LOL.
It seems that way Vince. The problem is between all the family stuff going on I can’t get any real time in the train room. Now that I have BKEP pretty well done, I’ve started back on the switcher #555. I put the black stripes on the long hood last night and started the decals. I’ll be glad to have the repaint done and have the loco back on the layout.
yea at least your rolling at the moment i'm waiting to see if I can find some atlas N scale GP38/SD35 bodies so I can cut off the High hood to make HH GP30's. if not i'll be returning to my Midwestern plan so waiting on a few other members to see if they have what I need. as for the switcher that turned out really nice only one problem Dale. your modeling is giving me builditis
Some progress on 555 the SW1200 for the Port. I have run into a bit of an issue with the decals. The Boat logo for the cab is way over size on the decal sheet. I have ordered the decal set in N Scale in hopes that they will be more size appropriate. I will possibly be removing the hood stripe as well if the smaller ones fit better. Making slow progress. I also messed up the cab side windows and am in the process of getting replacements from Rapido. Meet the new member of the switcher team at the port. Farmrail is replacing their GP-10’s with newer units. (IRL) and since we need a 3rd Locomotive, it might as well be 8253. I like the sound file the loco uses. My railroad, my rules...... Crossing the road into BKEP Emulsions with a few cars out of Gavilon East.
I resemble that remake Dale. That Farmrail unit looks good on your outfit. That rule 1 is a beautiful thing isnt it?
Dale, Isn’t the logo pretty simple? Maybe make a stencil and transfer it to a thin sheet of styrene and then paint it on. Could take a pic of it an import the image into photoshop or MS publisher to size it correctly. If it’s multiple color then stencil for each set of colors. Just a thought. Seems some interesting graffiti work done on cares using stencils. Don’t know why we can’t due logo’s that way too. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Hi Kevin, I hope Santa was good to you! It is a simple logo but I already spent the money getting the artwork for the decals. So I will try them. I have a feeling they will work. Have a good one buddy!
Dale, I hate to post this here. Did you know that Chief Brooks passed? https://www.stephens-key.com/obituaries/Edwin-Gene-Brooks?obId=10321909#/obituaryInfo
Hi Colt, Yes I had. I sent out a notice to the club and several key folks in the model railroading community in Tulsa. Gene was a true ambassador for the hobby in Tulsa. He worked on a number of our well known layouts in the area and help many us. He was a great guy and will be sorely missed. Thanks for reaching out Colt. Dale
Not to hijack your thread. Do you, or any club members remember what his home layout modeled? I had operated with him several times at C&S and been to his home several times when I bought a truck from him. He priced it to me, but I never got back over there. You always figure you have time and then it gets away from you.
I think he had a bit of just about everything, but his pride and joy was his Army Train with flatcars of tanks and vehicles. His biggest fun was tinkering with cars and locomotives.
Sorry to hear of his passing. Sounds like my kind of guy. I have always wanted a bunch of those DODX 6 axle flats with tanks on them. I remember loading an M60-A1 on one at Camp Lejeune.
