That's a great pic. But that handsome, shiny 1940 Plymouth says that's a terrible caption. I'm calling somebody in 1939 had terrible handwriting.

None of them are Waldo. The shutter speed was slow enough to turn the only one not behind glass into a ghost.
There is an old restored gas station in the Cuyahoga Valley National Park that has been preserved. Pure Oil was purchased by Union Oil Co in 1965 and renamed the Pure Stations by 1970. Pure was big in the Midwest and South and was the gasoline supplier for NASCAR until Union 76 supplanted Pure. I remember the Pure Stations in Toledo as a child. Rick Jesionowski
Very cool. Typical old school garage. There was a Pure station in Yale, MI when I was very young, complete with a roof over the pumps. The mechanic who later operated a garage there had an old picture that showed it had originally been a Hi Speed station.
This one is from 1937. Bonus, two brands. They may have fed the horse green alfalfa so it would have plenty of gas already.
I started my gas station career with Mobil Oil in 1959. At that time, many stations still displayed signage of Mobilgas, including the Pegasus and did so until the official change to Mobil Oil. (From Socony MobilOil.) The two words were often seen run together as simply "MobilOil". I still have my pins from back then. Precious reminders. Hard to believe these are now over sixty years old.

I wish I still had my “I can be very friendly” patches from my DX jacket and shirts from the early seventies myself! Those were the days!
