Here we go again. Are you ready? We are now in the thick of the time of year I refer to as "Holiday Madness" so it may get difficult to get any shop time this weekend, but let's see. Saturday: With December, we get shorter hours at the dealership so what is normally a short day will be a very short day as we close at 4:00. I'll run home and finish up the last bits of the new Christmas Train display so it can be installed on Sunday. Sunday: It is going to be a busy day as we set out to find the "perfect" Christmas tree at a new Christmas Tree Farm not far from the dealership. Once home, I'll install the new Christmas Train display, set up the train, decorate the tree and finish any decorating of the house and probably collapse! So how about you? What do you have planned for the weekend? Let us know. We'll assemble again on Monday the 9th and see how we all did. Don't forget that tomorrow is a day of remembrance. Until Monday, stay safe, have fun and as always... High Greens!
I will continue with my next (and last) F3 project. After this set, I will be starting on SP F7's - 8 F7 sets in total. What I am starting with: To be SP DF-2 class I want to clean track and run some trains -- it's been a very long time. We may also dig out some Christmas decorations and get started on that Y'all have a great weekend, Wolf
Saturday morning is the Kennesaw Christmas parade. My son's school marching band is in the parade so the wife has volun-told me that we will be there. Supposed to help with Christmas lights when we get home so just hoping I'm not too wiped out to tackle the stairs to the train room for some more scenery work. Fingers crossed. Sunday will be a trip to TN to continue cleaning and inventorying the parents house. Hope everyone has a great and safe weekend!
Benchwork begins on a fairly large layout. 1979 wheat harvest on the Rock Island. Enid to Chickasha Oklahoma.
Yep. Time for everyone to be safe and aware as many are out shopping and others are out and up to no good. I hope all goes well for all. I will be trying to finish the Murphysboro freight house that I continue to whine about getting finished. Then I can whine about other things.
I am going to one of the true things I enjoy about MODEL RAILROADING: THE FELLOWSHIP OF FELLOW MODELERS. The NMRA, Mid-Central Region, Div 8 Christmas Dinner and Awards Banquet. These people are the reason I so enjoy our Hobby of Model Railroading. We all know each other and have a GREAT time. Wives, girlfriends, and boyfriends all know that there is one night a year that there are NO O, HO, S, N, etc etc Scalers here. Just good people, having a GOOD TIME. Remember: MODEL RAILROADING IS FUN
House painters departed at noon today and if the exterior is dry tomorrow, I'll probably put up the outside Christmas decorations. I bought a new toy on Cyber Monday, a 35mm slide scanner, so not much modeling progress is likely this weekend. I have much to learn with the scanner, balancing resolution against gigantic file size. I'm enjoying looking at my old train slides.
Christmas decoration/tree weekend. Not sure what I’ll get done. Probably work on finishing walls on the brewery building in progress on the work bench. It will be “drive by” modeling for sure when I can steal 20 minutes here, and hour there, etc. We’ll see
I wish you the best on this one. I model extensively in cardstock. Perhaps you could check your printer specs for cardstock usability. Sometimes the stock is too thick for the printer. I wouldn't want you to damage your printer. Just a thought. I did notice you said "testing". P.S. Some cardstock is actually thicker than others. Have fun, gmorider.
@gmorider Thanks for the heads up. The testing went very well. Still, I'll double check my printer and cardstock weight. With luck there will be a sample of my 'Double Stack Container Home'. by Monday night. My official weekend is Monday / Tuesday.
Earlier this week made nine diagonal braces needed for the main span bridge on my Boston Mountains Sub Division layout. The only thing I need to do is make nine gussets for the middle of each brace. Joe
I received new tree leaf material to improve what I currently have. I should have some show and tell later today.
Currently waiting on glue to dry for wainscoting backing. Then, the 1/64th '' strips will be glued on.
Next step to the BC RAIL TOFC Flat Cars. Decals and trailers are largely finished. View attachment 209935
