Hi everyone, here's the photos for the week. badlandnp with BNSF 4764 SP 9811 with SP 9786 Akirasho with CSX 758 HemiAdda2d with BNSF 284 tstage with a B&O RPO co_riff with NS 7610 YoHo with some UP and Hardcoaler with NS 9792
Thanks, all. I often get criticized for using the "old" photo method of shooting 3/4 front views of locomotives. I will continue to do so, and see that many other do as well, and I will never criticize anyone for so doing.
Each photo is a work of art in the photographer's mind, regardless of subject. No one criticizes a painter in an art gallery. Therefore no one should criticize whatever is posted here. You may not like it, and that is your prerogative. But it still is personal artistry. Off soapbox.
Great photos everyone. Another fan of the 3/4 photo view of locomotives. Nothing wrong with it at all.
I agree that most often we're limited to 3/4 wedge shots because of limited alternatives. I'm less of an engine photographer, preferring instead to shoot trains in scenic compositions and if I can find a highway bridge or rise of earth to shoot from, so much the better. Sometimes though, I settle for the 3/4 roster shot and am happily content.
There is no 'One Twue Way' Great shots everyone. I'm just grateful to have the photos. I don't care what angle they are from. Next thing you know we will have grammar police. ☻ What is the process / parameters for picture selection? I have quiet a few pics of Boston MBTA commuter cars / locos.
First you have to post a photo in one of the ongoing threads or in Railimages for the previous week. Then it has to catch the eye of LegomanBill. He does the selecting.
Thanks badlandnp. They sound so nice too, pure EMD. I was watching one switch earlier this week and the revving of 16 Cylinders in that 645 have gotta make ya smile.
I couldn't tell if that one is still wired up with the long hood forward or not. It seems to be as there is no discernible "F" on the short hood side sill. Was the engineer on the shown side facing the long hood?
