Tried to cut out a template with that brown paper roll, ( a lot of brown paper for a buck ) that fit's almost perfectly on my 2' x 4' layout from the dollar store. Not sure I am happy with it though. I will say it was kind of fun though. And I also got kind of confused as to what to cut out and not cut out :)

Just bought some new rolling stock for the C & L Layout today at the local hobby shop in my area. All the ones behind the Atlas U25B Burlington are the new ones bought today. I know it's kind of dark video but had to take a video while they are new, to me anyway :) Good a great price on all 7, at least I am happy with the price. It's a very simple layout, but I enjoy it :)

Very nice thread. May I ask whose farm animals and other figures you use? I will be populating my layout with a very wide variety of humans and creatures..

Only have the cow's and horses right now, and I bought them so long ago, but I am 98% sure they are Woodland Scenic's and are N Scale for sure!

Anyone know what causes this noise? I have two out of three Atlas U25B's making this noise, one run's great, another run's fairly well making this noise. and the third hardly moves and makes this noise the worst. One of them I have taken apart so many times I lost count. Do they need oil, if so which type?

Thanks for any help with this.

Well they are apart, may never go back together but I hope so. Now to see if this was the problem. It appeared to be when moving them on flat service, seemed like they were binding a bit. We will see.

Mike C., Thank You I have been wanting to figure out how to take the trucks apart for awhile but was afraid I would break something, but looked at the exploded diagram and luckily I did it correctly. Nothing that I could tell was broken, I don't have ballast on my track, so that wasn't the issue. Although after cleaning both, it appears to work better, I just have to keep at it till I get them running smoothly hopefully. Are you suppose to oil the gears at all? Or parts of the motor somewhere? I also need to figure out how to clean those contacts better and the wheels/trucks. I was gonna use a cotton swab but figured it would just make it worst as I removed some type hair or maybe tree coverage, but not a lot.

Now I have almost taken everything apart on a Atlas U25B locomotive so I feel way more comfortable about it now, thanks again everyone! Man these parts on tiny in N Scale. Need a stronger magnifying glass and maybe even one of those 3rd hand thingy's :) I'm getting there and learning each time.

Didn't realize the thread had changed directions. Just wanted to say that you've come up with a good looking plan. Perhaps you could split a branch off opposite the yard and run it upgrade, possibly to an oilfield scene? That would also add traffic to the refinery.

Couple drops of oil won't hurt after they've been completaly cleaned .
