Anyone buy this lastest release from AZL?
I got a couple of sets (A & B) just because the Calzephyr is my signature interest in model railroading. The sets look very good IMHO... but I don't plan on running just yet... only will display for now.

If you have a set... and have run it... are there any issues to be aware of?

I've been running the set with a WP F3ABB set for a while and quite satisfied: the car run smoothly and handle 195mm curves well. I have had a problem with several of couplers not staying latched but I think I've fixed that by bending them a bit.

    Thanks!
I have no experience with the AZL 'auto-latch' couplers. How do they compare to the Micro-train couplers for reliability (staying coupled)?

I've found the AZL Auto-Latch coupler generally hold well. In the case of the CZ the silver-grey material used for the couplers seems a bit softer than the black couplers.

I got a set, but currently only have tiny layouts so I have only tested the F3s. I really need to build a larger layout. The CZ set looks real pretty in the box it comes in.

Yeah I figure 6' sidings and 240-270mm curves. When I get back to building it this winter, I'm modeling Hearst siding and Altamont siding on two 6' modules.

The cars look even better out of the box. I would suggest confirming all the cars match the set description.

You can also get by with a min-CZ: lose a dome coach, eliminate the backmost 10-6 sleeper and the tourist sleeper (it's off season :) )

We ran the prototypes at the NTS in Salt Lake this summer, and even though we had modules from several Z Bend Track modules, the train ran great.
Someone was taking videos of it, but Hans asked us not to post it until the train was released, so I am not sure if that video is in the wild yet.

The CZ looks great on that video. Only needed 2 Western Pacific F3 units to pull the 11 car consist. Thanks for sharing!!

Mine is running great! I love how quiet and smooth and slow the engines can run. (DC for now).

The only issue I've had is it looks and works so awesome even on my temporary track that it's distracting me from putting more time into construction of a larger layout.

How many individual modules do you think this layout is? It is amazing. Total opposite of what I model. Lots of space is needed to let those long trains run. They look fantastic. Thanks for sharing it. Jim

Thats from the NTS in Salt Lake this year. ZoCal Z (southern California) brought the BFY (Big *insert name here* Yard) along with several other modules and, the modules from the BAZ BoyZ where the ones with the long trains.

Henri from ZoCal has all the colorful, well detailed and lighted modules, running short trains.
