Welcome back everyone. I hope you all had a productive weekend and for those members on the East Coast, I hope the weather wasn't too risky for you. Saturday: The weather here in East Central Illinois was perfect. Sunny, cool(er) and not humid. I got up early to get the grocery shopping done, ate lunch and jumped on the Harley to go to my "not so local hobby shop". I picked the brain of the owner who is our local FreeMo guru and got some more ideas on construction of my modules. I believe I have the track plan designed, based on a segment of track in Manchester New Hampshire, so now I need to start working on the modules. After some much needed information, I headed home and enjoyed a nice ride through the country. Sunday: The weather was rainy, however I was able to get a lot done. In between rain showers, I painted the new track on the second module on the B&M layout then finished wiring. Once that was done, I installed a Tam Valley servo turnout control to one of my new turnouts and tested everything. With the track cleaned, my primary switcher, GP-9 B&M 1715, ran flawlessly. Now I just need to install two more turnout controls and start working on a switch panel. So how about you? What did you accomplish? Let us know. We'll assemble again on Friday the 13th. got a bit done, not a great deal worth photoing. installed a fence by the oil distributors, painted the furniture for the interior of said oil distributor, repainted a pickup truck (i will post photos once it is complete and back together) re-stuck the metal grills on a Genesis F unit and fitted cut lever bars to ends of 3 Genesis F B units
Only had Sunday, football took up all day Saturday. Got a bunch of "puff-ball" trees planted. Worked on one my major bridges some. But also built 3 gondola loads of scrap metal. I've been modeling for over 30 years. Every once in a while I will scrap off bits and pieces of left over junk, filings, busted car parts, you name it, into a jar. The goal was to build scrap loads from it. After 30 years I got a wild hair and just spontaneously stopped what I was doing built 3 of them. I have enough junk in jars for probably 30 more loads. Anyway, I glued it to a cut basswood base to fit and with epoxy and Rapid Fuse 30 second glue got the mess set. Then I took silver paint, BC red, orange, and various weathering chalks. After first 30 minutes, voila! Had one. Didn't take much time at all.
I was about ready to clean up a couple Shapeways castings. Found a nice little jar to use for soaking pieces in Bestine. Cleaned it up and... It's football season. Got distracted. Oops.
