Good morning from Sunny and Hot Northeast Ohio! I managed to complete a couple of cars this week. First is Atlas ACF 3650 Covered Hopper, where I removed the cast on roofwalk and installed Plano Supports and Roofwalk along with the walkover platforms over the couplers, removed the reinforcing rib at the top of the car as the ICG cars were delivered without this rib. Painted the car with Scalecoat II UP Covered Hopper Gray Paint and lettered with Dan Kohlbergs ICG Decals. Car was used for materials that were heavier than cement but lighter than gray like soda ash etc. Next, I did a second Intermountain Railway FMC 5283CF Double Door Boxcar kit for the MILW. Car was painted with Floquil GTW Blue paint and lettered with Herald King Decals. Purchased for the lumber trade out of the Pacific Northwest, cars were sold to the BAR after a couple of years. A couple of Kato PC SD45's with a general freight train, the first cars are sand cars from the Ann Arbor being forwarded to the Ford Brook Park Casting Plant outside of Cleveland. Thanks for looking! As some of you know, I've been working on a new layout since Feb., 2018. I came up with an idea for the fascia. Instead of visitors signing a book, I have them signing the fascia. I also had a friend of mine make welcoming sign as you walk up to the layout.
Last week I got another special order of 40 trees. With a little bit of brown, the trees look more realistic. I like it that way.
One more for the road. The fascination with early 4-4-0 locomotives is what led me to model trains in the first place.
Old Victorian houses always have a little flair of Edgar Allan Poe. This needs to be considered as well on OPS, at least when you are modeling it in 1:220 ;-)) THE RAVEN Here he comes,..... looks for his favorite spot,.... and leaves NEVERMORE !!!!
