Spent most of last week at cub scout camp at camp Lassen. North of the feather River, west of the inside gateway and east of the valley sub. Saw nothing on the way up or back, but the boys had an incredible time enjoying nature's wonder where the Sierra Nevada meet the Cascades.

Way too hot here to be out railfanning, so here's a roster shot from 01/22/2019 at Chester, SC. It's of Lancaster & Chester's 9146, a GE C40-8, formerly UP 9146 built 12/1987.

This was a morning shot. The sun could not decide what to do, and there was also a light forest fire haze. Mission Mountain Railroad's "Wildcat" engine- Kalispell, MT. Summer of 2019... :)

Afternoon on the prairie. Wrong side of train for good sun angle but at this point I was having a hard time getting over to the other side.[IMG]

Just this morning this grain was getting the juice going as they were heading east to do some switching. The 3rd unit is acting like an ALCO! PIC_0369.JPG
Been waiting to get this shot of the caboose setting on the storage track. PIC_0371.JPG

Whoa, that's quite a sight. As Kurt wrote, it's hard to click [Like] at such a view. I know that some fans have been chasing down NS's remaining SD-60s.

It's hard to fathom that they couldn't find a buyer.

I like the photography. The situation seems rather sad. :(

Agreed! Some of these may have been sold, but I'm just not sure. As seen in Curtis' pictures, the 6761 is listed as "Sold and is awaiting disposition", but that could mean sold to a scrapper. I can't find anything on 6745's status. 77 Ea are listed as "Sold and awaiting disposition" and 25 Ea as "Stored, but still on the active roster".

And to think that it was not too long ago that they were scrounging the bottom of the barrel to dredge up old rent-a-wrecks to press into service. I love the patch job on this one.[IMG]

Someone in a Western Pacific FB Group that I'm a member of mentioned that the old Tidewater Southern freight house in Turlock, Ca. was still standing. Since I sort of model the Tidewater, I had to go on a quest. Yep, still there!

Are those tracks still in service? Can't quite tell.... I am guessing the answer is no?

That's really cool John. Finding such still standing in good order and not ruined by "adaptive re-use" is quite nice.

I don't think so, but anything is possible.
