The 2019 NMRA National Train Show is going on right now! The first full week of July.

It's currently Friday the 12th and the good stuff, the actual product show and displayed layouts are getting into full swing!

What new model railroad products in all scales will be announced, displayed and released?

What Teasers will they give us?

What new Z scale product announcements will be made?

Will MTL break out into more modern rollingstock or locomotives?

Will AZL announce a whole slew of new designs and versions of rollingstock and locomotives?

Will AZL announce they are retooling a new SD70ACe-T4 shell for their already produced motorized chassis?

It looks like UP and CSX have already purchased the new loco. BNSF may be right behind them along with other major railroads.

So, what announcements will be made at the 2019 NMRA NTS this year by all of our Z scale manufacturers?

Stay tuned and let's see what gets posted!!!!

    Wishing I was there,
    Hobo Tim

Well for a start the pre-NTS email from MR had an interesting but confusing ad. The ad sponsored by Bowser proclaims the Bowser is doing Z. However the link they provided points to the Full Throttle page. Does this mean Bowser is buying FT? Bowser starting a Z product line? Or something else? Those are a couple of questions for NTS.

    Wow, that's crazy news!o_O

Only pics I've seen so far are of a black RS3, which looks like it has solid pilots, and the California Zephyr. The REA building looks nice too.(y)

Yeah, sounds like Bowser makes them for him? They usually just make the wheels and trucks, right?

I'll confess I thought Bowser made everything since Pennzee, but I'll concede that I truly have no idea. I certainly love the Full Throttle products...err, product as I only have their 100-ton open hoppers. But, they're great...I have quite an addiction to them. (well some are Pennzee)

Hopefully they will announce some new products, and I would love to see the BN "Rotary Scheme" (white ends) on their 100T cars.

There have been several posts on social media, including Archistories REA Building, AZL RS3, AZL Calzephyr, and AZL Maxi-I doublestack cars, to name a few.

It's not like Browser hasn't made Z before:

it's just that I've never seen them advertise their contract work before.

That should be SW1000 and SW1500, according to his post.

SW1000 and SW1200 are much different animals. I have to say I'm a little surprised with an SW1000, so maybe it was a typo on Hans' part.

Well, I was wondering if Hans' was too excited, too? I mean, SW1000 is a pretty "out there" choice all things considered. And generally the SW1200 and SW1500 share a common mech. (see Micro-Trains using the Walthers/former Life-Like SW1200 mech in N-scale) I'm not sure if the SW1000 enjoys that same benefit of shared tooling...maybe it does. I thought the SW1000 was the higher porch version of the 1500 but I may be confused.

Well RobK's Facebook page is showing the SW1500 announcement so we know that is for certain.

Yes, and upon further review, the SW1000 is very close to the SW1500, insofar as Z-scale standards are concerned. So, once the mech is built and tooling amortized somewhat, I would expect we'll see an SW9/1200 too eventually since they can benefit from the same mech. (in theory)

No sooner than I clicked the Post button for this topic giving people time to read it, I start getting bombarded with AZL NTS messages in my email. Imagine that!!!!

Does anyone know if MTL has any announcements?

I posted on MTL's FB page asking if there were any announcements but no response so far. I'm not sure how closely they monitor that though.

SW1000 and SW1500 have the same chassis, only difference is in some doors, louvers and single vs. twin stack. Makes completely sence

The biggest difference between SW1000 and SW1500 is the number of exhaust stacks. Doing both means a whole lot of road names will be available.

I'm not too much into the older Zephyr cars but those Maxi-I's looked mighty sweet rolling around the curve in a video that was posted from the event.

I look forward in getting a few of these sets when they are released!

    Thanks AZL!
