The wife is on a 5 day trip to California, and with Playa Desnuda being set in the 1950’s, it feels odd to run my Southern Pacific locos on it.

I looked at my “scrap” lumber and track, and decided to build a small four foot long layout especially for my Micro Trains SW1500.

I plan to make a simple, single switch layout that recycles my scratch built warehouse, and the goal is to build it before the wife gets back.

Hopefully the land use administrator doesn't file an injunction regarding your new addition... :p

Yeah, I wasn't sure if one switch still counted as a Inglenook, but calling it a nook sounds good as well (y) Now get to work before the wife gets home :ROFLMAO:

Hmmm.....50 foot cars, one spur would be 12 inches, the second one would be 20 inches....

Much more reasonable than when my wife is away. When that happens to me, I take out a box full of Kato UniTrak and build an ad-hoc layout from the from the dining room down the hall and back and then down into the sunken living around the coffee table and then back up into the dining room.

Sure is fun even if it is somewhat short lived!

My daughter started working on a backdrop. Nothing but a piece of plywood and cheap Wally World acrylic paint….she is still working on it

I salute you. If it were me, a glass of scotch, a good cigar, and a visit to the strip club would be good.

In that case, skip the scotch and cigar and keep everyone working on the new layout :ROFLMAO: When the wife asks, tell her it was a family bonding project (y)

Hope you feel better soon. Cool that your daughter is involved. Wish my son would take more of an interest.

Unfortunately, that's the way it works out sometimes. My Dad's hobby was Radio Controlled airplanes and mine has always been model railroading. Dad had zero interest in trains, model or prototype and I had only a passing interest in WWI airplanes and very little interest in learning how to fly R/C planes. I built a few balsa wood WWI airplane kits, but for me they were intended to be static models, not flying models. It's the same with my daughter and I, she has zero interest in trains and was never interested in helping out on any of my model railroads. If your son does not show any interest in model railroading, maybe try getting him a Guillow's airplane kit or AMT model car kit. You never know, it might enjoy building car or airplane kits.

Sorry Bremner, I not trying to steal your thread, just throwing out some suggestions for a fellow modeler. Hope you're feeling better soon and I'm looking forward to some update photos of your new project.
