I managed to complete a couple of cars this week, and after 10 weeks of the Ohio State Women's Bowling Tournament, I got to the club for the first time in awhile. First up is the 1956 order of PS1 Boxcars (Model by IMRC) by the Ann Arbor, Car is in the as delivered scheme and was in general service on the railroad. Car painted with a 50/50 mixture of Scalecoat II Boxcar Red and Oxide Red then lettered with Smokebox Graphics decals. Next is a Tangent Scale Models PS-3 2750CF Coal Hopper, Assembled, painted with Scalecoat II Black Paint and lettered with Herald King Decals. Cars were purchased in 1958 and hauled coal and coke from Ironton to the McClouth Steel Plant in Detroit. The were sold to the GM&O in 1965 and converted to wood chip hoppers. IMRC F3's with a NYC mixed freight at the Stongsville, OH Model Railroad Club layout. Thanks for looking! Rick Jesionowski
I love those old "Fish Belly" wood side baggage cars that were clad with steel plating. I think Frisco had a few of those too although they were a bit shorter. You can always pick them out in the old photos.
Thank you, Carl, We have been digging in our photo archive in order to find some Espee stuff for you ;-)) Here it is the early morning train running through Niles...... These articulated cars are quite rare in Z-scale and a masterpiece of AZL because fully functional. What kind of locomotive would you like to see with the train? or??? Best, Sven Like to see more? But, Carl, the early morning "commuters" were always picked up by SP number 10 !!! Only the early-bird-train had a milk car !!!
Here is the old prototype for #10 when it lived in Galveston before moving back to California to be restored.
Sven, the British Racing Green sports car parked at the station looks very familiar, but I can't place it. Can you help me, is it an accurate model, or merely a whimsical representation? The mechanism ahead of the radiator suspended between the forward suspension shackles keeps tugging at my memory because I remember seeing similar 60-70 years ago. I still am in awe of the detail you have created in Z Scale, something I would not have thought possible.
Good catch, it should be a Bentley Blower (sorry, for my black humor......;-)) https://www.wired.com/2014/12/first-bond-car-actually-monster-bentley/
Old picture. I loved building this kit ! Challenging but fun !! I had fun putting a poster of my act on the front of the building.
I can't top Candy's but here is an HO Overland Models brass car given to me when I retired, 33 years of service, from Chevron. If I could find an N scale car close to the 2 compartment prototype I might try a bash job. Any ideas ? ? I spent a lot of time with this car and the trainers and it is "right on". Very well done model. Carl
