    Hopefully this is good enough:

I'm rather doubtful of the quality of my phone photos.

    You should hear the whistle.

I can't get it out of my head right now.

When Ed opens 4014’s throttle about 9 minutes in, the old gal really stretches her legs. Amazing how quickly she accelerates. I love the asynchronous exhaust beat from her two engines.

It doesn't look like 844 is adding any power to the acceleration. 4014 seems to be saying, "I can handle this all by myself, thank you very much!!!"

Thank you for sharing this wonderful video.

    Russell,

help me, I am rather ignorant. That Y2605 that you posted, is that a "genset" ?

That wonderful , throaty, lonesome whistle...
    Wow!
Love the vantage point. Was there a slow order there?

I think 844 slipped a bit when they accelerated. Those 80" drivers are just prone to slip.

It was a slow order. There was a dead diesel unit parked behind the massive tie pile.

They are being very cautious about 4014's clearances.

I saw the dead engine--just figured it was on a helper track.

Not so rare on the run from Roseville to Fairfield though...in fact, pretty normal.

I would have just said that I saw a couple of SD70Ms until I looked up the road number. "regular SD70Ms I see quite a few of. Those and SD70Macs are pretty much the only modern locos that I know what they are. lol

And to think, just a few years ago, that was a common site.

I was driving around enjoying the Spring day when I saw that the swing bridge was closed. I then drove over to Portland and saw this. That's Portland Connecticut
