Darn it! We let the cat out of the bag. Yeeeooowww! Hisss! It's true and even e-pay is collecting. The trick is to find those states that still don't. Times are a changing and the states are extra hungry for income to repair the infrastructure. Pot holes, bridges, street signalling systems and much much more. I like the story you shared. Now that is indeed funny!!! Foam on the bottom. LOL Let's see if I can steer back to the original question. There are two N Scale box cars I'm looking for and will likely pay more then they are actually worth. An SP two tone gray express box car and a solid pullman green SP box car lettered "Baggage" with passenger or high speed trucks on them. Both custom painted by Aztec. Currently on e-bay: Sold for $25.00 on e-bay: Now we are talking.
Barstow Rick: Love Aztec cars and I have them both (actually there are three in the 'set' including the daylight painted car). They are sweet cars. I wish you good luck in finding a pair for you.
Thanks. Envious as ...well...!!!! It will take a bit of time before I can act on any purchases but that's okay. I'll get there.
I am disappointed in 3D printing, because you quickly realize that making a car body turns your little car building company into a pad printing company...
And if it turns out to be better then what we've been getting, then what? Did I miss something? You've moved to Florida? I thought you were in San Diego.
That is not quite correct. PA law states, "If your business sells products on the internet, such as eBay, or through a storefront, and the item is shipped within the State of Pennsylvania, sales tax must be collected from the buyer and the sales tax must be paid on the collected tax to the State of Pennsylvania." https://www.online-tax-id-number.or...sylvania rev. dept.&utm_content=Pennsylvania1 In order for the state sales tax to apply both the seller and the buyer must be in the state of PA. Out of state sales or purchases are not subject to the PA sales tax.
You might want to read this one. https://www.cnbc.com/2018/06/21/heres-what-that-supreme-court-sales-tax-decision-means-for-you.html
Time to get a PO Box in Oregon, and take the Coast Starlight up to Oregon and retrieve the merchandise! Or maybe not, the Internet sales tax is a full percent lower than the local sales tax
Right on David. Not sure about Idaho and what's happening here. I ordered some SP, Wheels Of Time, Baggage cars and didn't pay sales tax. I read it and fell asleep...finally. I've been wound up as tight as a cat, at 100 miles an hour running around the walls of my apartment. Found the article boring enough to catch a good cat nap. I knew the supreme court would rule against the people. Expect more of the same in the future. All in the name of ...well...I best leave it alone.
I read it. However, the courts decision says that states CAN collect sales tax. Currently PA law requires both seller and buyer to be residents of PA. That does not mean that in the future the legislature may revise the law from 'both . . . and' to 'either . . . or'. But right now it is what it is.
BTW: While I never knew the story behind the Ole Frothingslosh Beer car, I did make one from Clover House transfers just because I thought the idea was funny and I like to include a 'less than prototypical' car every now and then just for fun. Thanks for the back story!
...and of course the states were going to get their taxes, especially since most commerce is going online. They need their income so they can squander it on worthless projects (like their own retirement benefits).
Off Topic: I treasure the few WB videos I have Rich and you have just explained why WB's narrations were always accurate and with place names properly pronounced. I have a few videos from another source that feature "professional narration", but the pronunciation of locations and rail terminology make me cringe every time I watch them.
As do I. Truth is we, most of us anyway, don't use the terminology of the Rails from our past. But don't get me started. I resent the hell out of today's MR linguistics.
How old are you? Guessing at or about 70. Sounds like what I paid for my first blue box Athearn Santa Fe Box Car. ,,,,,, I put comma's in that last sentence but they didn't look right so if you want them in there...use your own imagination. I had to mow three lawns, polish three cars and do dishes every night for a week in order to raise $1.29. Yep, we had an automated dishwasher in our home...me. Thank god for child labor laws.
