I noticed that, as well. His opening bid of three hundred fifty dollars for ten cars and an A-B-A set, two of which had decoders, was not bad. Those Kato passenger car sets will pull some serious money, even more than the locomotives. They also start snipe wars. I put up some B&O car sets and locomotives some time back and was surprised at how little I got for the locomotives and how much I got for the car sets. I got two hundred dollars for one of the four car add-on sets. The winner put a slam bid on it. He informed me later that he wanted to make sure that he got it because on the B&O set, the four car set is the only one that has the vista dome.
I do understand what your saying though. These are newer templates for people that have stores. My brother uses them a lot for his War Hammerer/D&D/Ect. figures. Used to help him out. They are really confusing as I had a similar experience Saturday ordering new door locks or my dad's home, but it did end searching multiple listings for the different locks I needed. I to haven't bought anything railroad related in a very long time on Ebay.
I painted this up for a gag "white elephant" gift exchange at out club Christmas party many years ago. It was the most stolen item. May have to try to sell one like it on ebay and see what happens.
Huh!!!? https://www.ebay.com/itm/NJ-Interna...477495?hash=item3fc041cd37:g:zrwAAOSwM7FcmnHc Why pay $300.00 for that when you can get https://www.ebay.com/itm/N-Scale-19...598398?hash=item443b1e01be:g:FYQAAMXQUShQ8ftu already assembled, painted and decaled?
One's metal, the other is plastic and I'm not sure about the plastic one being a true N-scale as I don't recognize the manufacturer. NJ International is well known and maybe it is that rare. But I agree on the $300 price as being high, but, I'm not a collector.
Seriously?? Where's the poop emoji? https://www.ebay.com/itm/Atlas-2-3-Bay-Covered-Hopper-Illinois-Central-Gulf-Road-s-776446-776421/163643487329?ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT&_trksid=p2055359.m1431.l2669&autorefresh=true
The auction ended so what you see is a "we selected something else for you..." auction. Click on the Completed box and you'll get the ended auction. Damn! $63 final price. I guess PT Barnum was right! https://www.ebay.com/itm/Atlas-2-3-...m43663.l44720&nordt=true&rt=nc&orig_cvip=true
Could they be custom painted cars? The seller's handle is "bobscustomstwo". I've lost track of everything Atlas has done but those could be really good decal jobs.
They are stock Atlas Trainman cars. There were a couple recent single cars sold, one of which went over $30 just for one car, so maybe there is something special about them .
Well put. We've all seen an irrational and competitive mania surface on certain items. Last week I lost a bid on an eBay item and was fine with it. I think I was 12 when I last just HAD to have something and that was long, long ago.
All I know that some here don't do faceb. however some of these people are nuts .. its the $$ I see here. And I thought ebay was good for a laugh! Kato engines $1,000,000 95204 https://www.facebook.com/506508243069665/posts/783132858740534?sfns=mo . No, I am not sure if this person is a member here. Tom
Some of those look the same as ones that were just on eBay. https://www.ebay.com/itm/N-Scale-Ka...=true&nordt=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557
I'm on a couple of FB N scale buy/sell pages. Folks seem to put an amount like that or some other eye catching amount when they have numerous items and just put them into one post. This seller has stickers with the price on the locomotive case and that is noted in the posting. This seller has since changed the post and removed that dollar amount from. I am guessing that sales weren't happening as people looked at the amount and passed the post over. Just a guess though. But there are some posts on those FB pages that rival some of the hilarity over at the 'bay IMHO. I've found a few hard to find items at reasonable prices as well.
Some eBay prices do seem ridiculous... but when you see MSRP for currently announced Atlas Trainman Shorty Beercan Tankcars at almost $21 each... those custom painted/decaled Trainman hoppers may not necessarily be ridiculously priced. Atlas and Intermountain boxcars are almost a $30 each... I can't judge cost versus value on many hobby items nowadays. Sent from my SM-J737T using Tapatalk
