Wow. This is from decades back... Not worth much in the real world. But someone will tell us all about collectors, or supply and demand, etc, etc. Bleh.

I have a postal scale and have tried, but always USPS seems to want more than what my equipment determines. So, I must expend my time and money to go to USPS and get an exact quote. Which negates the idea for me. :( $7.90 is just not unreasonable in the year 2019.

Sorry, folks. 1&5/8 primaries are too small. While these would certainly be beneficial, they are not the all-out performance equipment if you are really pumping in dollars. You spend any serious amount on the heads themselves, you'd better be thinking at least 1&3/4 here, and perhaps at 3&1/2 inches for the collectors.

Use First Class. As Hardcoaler said below, it's way cheaper and time wise it adds a day or two. And if it's nearby, it gets there at the same time as Priority.

It's now up to 16 oz. Maybe they increased the weight limit because they felt bad shafting us with the higher rates! :ROFLMAO:

Shipping costs are going up, but I still got a package with $4.06 clearly marked on it for postage. The irksome thing was that it contained 2 cars, both individually listed as $4.06 shipping, and the seller had answered my before-purchase question saying that he does combine shipping. However, he then charged me $6.00 to ship those 2 items, even though the actual shipping cost was clearly the same as he advertised for one item. He must have a different definition of "combined" than the rest of us. Anyway, lesson learned: don't ask if he combines shipping, ask how much it will cost to ship x items! Before bidding/buying.

Hrrm … I also wonder about the cost of a U. of N.M. college dorm room at "$509.00" (eBay subtitled "$46 for 12 Months"). As a parent with a kid in college, I strongly suspect that the $509.00 price is per month.

The same crap happened to me! I won two freight cars from a seller. Each had a $5 shipping but he said he "combines shipping". When he sent me the invoice, shipping was $8!!! What the? I can confirm that shipping was WAY less than that since I weighed the package after it was delivered and I knew where it was shipped from.

Both those cars could have been shipped for $5 First Class!

Would you believe that was actually a thing? I guess back in the 60's or 70's, someone made brass shells for Bachmann's F9 and GP40 models and sold them. See more here: http://spookshow.net/loco/gembrass.html

Apparently, as few as 15-25 GP40's were made, so if that's an example, it's a very rare bird. A junk one, to be sure, and the orange roof probably kills its value, but rare nonetheless.

You have to request an invoice for all purchases after the bidding is over, or add them all to the cart and pay all at once on BIN to get combined shipping.

As I stated in a earlier post I happen to have a ATLAS / RIVAROSSI Shell with walkway for this Loco.

It takes two or three clicks to re-list something, so if it does not sell, it takes little effort to re-list. Another funny thing about FeePay is that something that you could not pay someone to take for four weeks will sit for six days the fifth time around with no watchers, even, then there is a sniping war the last day and it sells for three times the opening bid.

    ^^^^^^^^^^^^^\/ \/ \/ \/ \/ \/ \/ \/ \/ \/ \/ \/ \/

I try very hard to avoid selling something where the postage and handling is going to be more than the opening bid. I will add items to something and make a lot out of it, so that I can add a dollar or two to the opening bid, thus the merchandise is more than the postage. It just does not look right when the postage is more than the goods. Yes, I know, try ordering parts from Atlas or Bachmann.......................I always order several things so that I am not paying nine dollars to get an eight dollar grab iron set.

I do this, as well. GF has some old boxes that FeePay gave her when she sold there. They are Priority Mail boxes on the outside, but plain on the inside, so you can reverse them. I can cut many in half, slit appropriately and make two from one (boxbashing?). The newer Priority boxes read "Priority" on both sides. As the Post Office gives away those boxes to encourage use of Priority, I suspect that they figured out that people were reversing them and using them for First Class or lower cost mail.

Unless it is a very low cost item, I send Priority because it comes with fifty dollars worth of insurance. If the package shows up damaged or not at all, FeePay almost always rules in favour of the buyer. Pay Up, Pal makes it very difficult to submit a claim under its alleged Buyer "Protection". The post office charges to submit an insurance claim, but, it will pay, eventually. If something does get bid way above what I thought that it would, I will purchase the additional insurance and eat the cost.

.....bashing project? .............although for me to spend that kind of money to bash something, my modelling skills would have to be professional grade..................

^^^^^This; I would not pay $49,95 for it. You can not pay $4,995 for something, not these days, that is.\/ \/ \/ \/ \/

Sometimes, technology has a mind of its own. You go to list something under its appropriate category and it winds up totally where it does not belong. GF used to sell jewellery. I listed a RR Challenger under what I thought was N Scale locomotives. FeePay decided that it was going to be listed under jewellery. Fortunately, a bidder told me where he had found it, so, I moved it. Another annoying feature of FeePay is that often it takes several tries for the change of category to take. For all of the fees that it charges, you would think that they could give you some technology that actually worked properly.

The description does state "per month".

Thank you. That answers my question.

I'm not sure why you're blaming USPS for eBay sellers overcharging for postage. My standard shipping is $3.50 for 1st Class . If they want Priority Mail, it's $6.50. I get a shipping discount by using PayPal (as does any seller store owner using eBay and PayPal,) so I cover my costs. Admittedly most of my items are light and smallish, but someone charging $8 - $10 for one N car is making money on the shipping.
