I have seen UP 1983 multiple times since moving to Northern California. Including when I came down for the job interview that moved me here, but every time I see her, the location is unphotogenic, or the timing is bad.

So it was again, best I could do with rain falling and between speeding cars as I was across the street. She was moving about the Roseville Fuel Racks. Likely getting ready to be turned at the wye.

From 01/26/2019, overpowered local NS P87 nears its home terminal at Asheville, NC, crossing the Swannanoa River at Biltmore. BI Tower once stood here, controlling a junction behind the train where the line splits for Old Fort and Saluda.

I believe DJ of DJ's Trains said that a lone power consist could travel at no more than 35 mph. Whereas if it had even one car, it could travel at track speed. Though he works for CSX, so that may be only CSX's rule.

    Ken,
I think so. There's a rural grade crossing there.

This just in, from Garrison, ND today sitting at the elevator.

My ex and I took a short road trip to Denair, Ca. Bought some sandwiches and watched four trains (two San Joaquins #1701 and #702 and two BNSF freights) in the span of maybe 30 minutes. Good times!

Ken, from the museum's website : "Diesel electric locomotive, General Electric 44 tonner, former NC&StL number 100. This is our newest acquisition as a long-term loan, moved into place in Jun 2007.
Built in 1950, the first of four for the road, used exclusively at Huntsville, AL untill
    sold in 1960 by the L&N (post-merger)."
