I have a question about the what I should see and expect from my Arduino during set-up. I have a Arduino Genuine Uno and a Arduino Motor Shield. I have the UNO connected to my laptop and the MS connected by a 12V power supply. When I type <1> enter in the serial monitor the A and B power connectors 4 leds light up, When I type in <D> enter the 4 leds flash. This apparently means that I have done everything right to this point. The question I have is should I now have power at the A and B connections ( I don't)?
Setting up JMRI is another issue.
    I appreciate any help.

I should also note I have severed the Vin on the MS.

I think this is in the wrong forum, it should be in DCC++. Could someone please move it for me.
    Thanks

    Hi Colin,

Indeed, if the 4 leds light up when you issue the <1> command then you should get 'power' on the MS outputs. However the output voltage needs to be measured using a DVM on the ac range - and you wont get a voltage reading as high as the DC value being fed into the motor shield.

Thanks Jim, I just checked and I do have power (10.45V AC). I did know in the back of my mind that the track power would be AC, but, I've been having so many issues that I completely forgot.
Now on to the next issue JMRI. You might hear from me again.
    Thanks
    Colin

That voltage sounds perfect! -- Onwards and upwards!!
