    Hi all
Following on from my thread about the 3D printed diesel switchers I finished on the Rokuhan Shorty chassis I've now got around to the two boxcabs designed by Stonysmith on Shapeways

The first is similar to the GE-Ingersol Rand design used by the Central New Jersey and now preserved at the Baltimore and Ohio museum. Basically a box, it has the windows printed in solid and basic detailing with nothing below chassis level. It fits straight onto the Shorty chassis

The other one is a rare beast indeed. Built by British Thompson Houston for the massive Ford carplant in Dagenham in Essex this loco has also survived and can be found at the Kent and East Sussex railway

This has the advantage that the windows are open and there is a lot more detail on the sides

Both locos have space above the chassis to add additional weight and in the case of the British one that can be used to raise the body up so that the buffers are at standard height

In the video I basically do a 'How to' on finishing these including the cleaning up needed and the additional details added to each.

The Ford one was finished in a generic mid green. The Ford livery is too specific and the loco is mainly going to be switching Republic Steel.

I gathered from other members on here that the CNJ was finished in Pullman green in the early days and I had some Accuflex left over from ages ago so used that.

The trucks need another coat of black as the grey is showing through. In the video I describe how to pick the windows out with a fine tipped marker to make them stand out a bit

The two together. The Ford one has Marklin couplers and the CNJ ones the Rokuhan buckeyes which seem a bit low

I still need to add the flush glazing to the U.K one but as I'm finishing off another Class 37, this time in the complex early Railfreight livery, I'll glaze both at the same time.

Video here, including shots of the real things and a very rare bit of movie footage of the Ford one in action in 1952.

These are both ideal starter designs for anyone thinking about having a go at 3D models and with the Rokuhan being so inexpensive I've built these two for about $30 each

Coming next a tale of three Fairbanks Morse H10-44s, watch this space

I got the Rokuhan Knuckle Coupler (short) #ROK-A019. photo of one of the 3D printed Boxcab Engine Rokuhan shorty with a short and a long coupler I decided to go with the short and they work well with the MTL coupler. Not sure yet how well it will un-couple! In the photo the long is in the back! another Photo is the installed couplers! The couplers that came with the Rokuhan was easy to take off , just a little pull. but trying to put the new coupler in was a bit harder since it comes in two pieces. Third is photo of the two Boxcar attached

I found enough information on the Boxcab to come up with I think is a good design in brass! I have printed this one with areas cut out for windows and fwd and rear lights. it has rivets, bell, horn, walkway. Hope to see your next project!

That is superb! Would be a shame to paint it.

Now the shows have finished for a while I'll crack on with the two FM H10-44s. I put them away before Christmas because the old tin of yellow paint I used for the ends wouldn't dry!

I'll get them out tomorrow and see how they are doing

That was my thoughts it look so nice sitting there all shinny! I have ordered two more of them from my shop. That FM H10-44 I also have in my shop! no Chassis for it I did this one when someone here on train board was asking about one and put a photo of it up so I did it. I have someone making a chassis for the one I have he is still working on it. from one Smith to another!

The first two H10-44s I got are going to be static anyway to sit in the Cuyahoga roundhouse and then I'll look at stretching a shorty chassis to fit. I've got one of stonysmith's stretched ones on a GP35 chassis but it is lacking handrails and steps. Needless to say all three will be in Nickel Plate colors.

Done another Box cab Engine this one uses pantographs Which I still looking for a set. SQM GE 289A Boxcab Electric! Which also uses the shorty! Since it has the front and back door I had to use the long Rokuhan snap in knuckle couplers A020. I will soon have the brass shell of this one.
