Rail Joiner listing on eBay is a pricing error from fatigue: he has over 200k transactions, has over 80k items listed and that includes over 1000 modeling items. How do you store over 80k items and find them for a 99.4% rating?
Don't talk that way! The British members could become pence-ive. The French could become franc-ophobes. The Germans could become afraid to make their mark. The Mexicans might be scared they can't keep up the peso. Persians might decide we aren't keeping it rial. The Canadians might decide we're all loonie. Next thing you know, only the Russians will be left to clean up the ruble.
Here is another one from the guy who sold a C-C RDC that he unabashedly described as "JUNK". This one is still live. https://www.ebay.com/itm/153289421579
https://www.ebay.com/itm/BACHMANN-N...itm=302987980812&_trksid=p2047675.c100623.m-1 Here is one: "kept carefully handled and stored" but has broken couplers and missing horns, to say nothing of its not running. Broken couplers and missing horns indicate jostling, at best; at worst, dropping. So much for "carefully". At least he is honest about the condition. It has four bids and had an opening bid of $5,95, plus the shipping is reasonable. From the underside, you can see that it is overgreased. That might explain its not running. What is more likely is that the flexing wires soldered to pivotting trucks came undone. Had I bought the thing for the five bucks and three buck shipping, the fix would not have been difficult and it could have fetched at least fifteen on FeePay. I sold one like it for fifteen, one for twenty five and one with some cars and a caboose for thirty. The Rapido couplers are an easy fix, as I have countless springs and Rapido couplers in all sorts of boxes and all over the floor. The above cited auction has four bids, already. The same guy with the TRIX who sold the RDC that he called "junk" got something like six or eight bids and twice his opening bid for it.
Subtitle "US Postal Service Humor"-- not BIG Increases in First Class Shipping Rates coming in January, including the introduction of zone-based pricing for First Class Packages similar to that already in place for Priority Mail that doesn't fit in Flat Rate Boxes and Envelopes (which are also going up). Methinks that "Free Shipping" just went out the window. It will cost substantially more to send a single N Scale freight car from coast to coast than to the next town. This is also going to be a nightmare for sellers that use other venues. https://blog.stamps.com/2018/10/19/usps-announces-postage-rate-increase-starts-january-27-2019/
Sellers on eBay will have to shift to selling lots instead of single car by single car. Many times I don't even bid on a single car unless the seller has some other stuff that interests me. Often shipping can add quite significantly to a single car purchase!
Looks as though using the small Flat Rate Priority box, which includes insurance up to $50, is a good way to go. Maybe....
Looking here https://pe.usps.com/PriceChange/Index you can see the new zone price structure. What's an n scale freight car weigh? According to the NMRA standard 1/2 ounce plus 0.15 oz per inch. So using 5 inches (a 50' box car @ 3 3/4 inches long) is that's 2.25 ounces. Toss an ounce or 2 of packaging and lets go with 5 ounces just to be safe. We can't forget the jewel case now can we? So zone 9 which is coast to coast 5 ounces cost $4.81 (Zone 1 being $4.39) using the First-Class Package Service—Retail chart from the pdf. Anyone ship a freight car coast to coast lately? I haven't so using today's rates from the USPS rate calc from NYC to SanFran 5 oz is $3.75 using the same service. So looks like it's going up approx $1.06. Is free shipping going away? I personally doubt it. Sellers will just add a buck or so to the cost of the freight car. We as consumers pay shipping. If it's free it's added to the cost of the good being sold. But I could be wrong too. It's happened. I don't remember when though.
Here's a good one...RARE!!!!!! AND Custom! Only, 5 grand...I'll take two please. No, don't try to sweep in on this one, it's all mine! lol https://www.ebay.com/itm/RARE-CUSTO...=item2f28b0c647:g:Bz8AAOSwMKFcH-c7:rk:51:pf:0
And its 'used'. Does that mean you are going to have to buy new tires for it soon ? I would offer him $37.42 and explain the tire situation !
