Aaaaah, the old SP we knew and loved!

I remember being so excited when they would come up to Seattle on occasion in the early 80's over the BN!!:D

They did a great job on that caboose.

The V-DILPTS1-30 passes into the deepening ice fog at 33rd St in Minot as it grinds up the icy rails westbound.

Yeah, mostly knocking down the highlights a bunch. I also brought the shadows up too. I shoot in RAW so I have that flexibility. I'm still learning my new camera.

I greatly enjoy doing railfan photography (Nikon D5100), but have so far never experimented with RAW. I remain curious about it too.

I find RAW allows way more flexibility to do post production adjustments over JPEG. More adjustment scale in exposure, highlights and shadows principally, but it has other benefits I'm just beginning to figure out. It makes it a bit more difficult to take a photo and upload it to RailImages, but the results are worth it. Cameras rarely see in the dynamic range the human eye can.

There was actually a joint SP-BN train which came up to Seattle. I cannot recall the symbol right now. I saw the power in Tacoma a fair number of times. I have a slide or two taken there, somewhere.
