Having thought about this all night, I have decided to rip up this track, put isolation blocks at both ends after the turnouts to the yard, and then power it through a toggle on my panel which will get it's power from the power pack dedicated to yard functions only. After examining all the other sidings in the yard I have concluded that this section of track should have been blocked as well. But it's going to have to wait till the new year as I have other stuff going on and can't spare the time to work on it right now. Thanks to all for your assistance. I'll let you know how I make out. Merry Hum Bug.
Matthew, Isn't this a bit drastic? Since you don't know what's causing your current problem you really can't be sure it won't reappear in the rework. Also you don't really need to rip up the track, you could cut the rails with a small fine-toothed saw. Not being able to see your layout is a bit of a problem, but if you're willing to play 20 questions, I'm willing to try to help out. So for starters, does your yard look fundamentally like this? --------------------------> to main line \ ______________/ \_____________/ \___________ / (We did layout drawing long before graphics were available in messages) Mark
Maybe. It sounds to me like he's not that happy with the way he wired in the first place. And, honestly, I'm not sure I would be. But, Matthew, sleeping on it one more night could be a good investment.
