The layout building bug bit me and I did some work on the layout today. I worked on the roads in the small city. Here are a few pictures.

    Wiring the buildings comes next.

Love seeing that billboard. Photo of their catalog, 1954.

Let there be lights! I wired all the buildings in my small city.

Very nice. If I was back into modeling I think I would do something similar to what you have done. I like it!

Thanks Jim. Who knows, maybe the model railroading bug will bite and you'll get back into it. :)

I painted the ground form and added grass. In this picture the glue isn't dry yet. Next I will add trees and brush.

I added trees to the landform. These are Menards trees that I got as freebies when I bought some freight cars (thank you Menards). There are 24 trees on the hill and I have 12 more trees that I could add. I think it looks good but what do you think?

Once again amazing photo's of the night scene and the buildings, you must be a professional photographer, and clean, clean, just like I like it! Are the all prebuilt with lighting Woodland Scenic buildings? Does a video look that good? Is there a night time scene video? I see one from 7 month's ago but not a current video like the pictures above? Can we get one?

Superb pictures :) And the land form stuff looks really food too. One of my favorite threads to follow :)

Thanks much. I am not a professional photographer. I use my Samsung Android phone to take photos and videos.

I like the clean look as well. My layout is an idealized post war toy train layout. It's the world as I would prefer it. I leave the dirty, gritty realism to our 2 rail brethren.

I will shoot a night time video in the next few days.

The IGA market is a Woodland Scenics building, the rest are MTH Railking.

I shot these 2 videos last night. One is in the dark with the only light coming from the layout and the other is low light. They are short

Wow. Cool! I love it. The town lighting really makes it have life. The business signs are great. (y)(y)(y)

I added some brush at the base of the landform. It looks better but there's still more to do to make it look right.

This is a mini update. I added people to the station. This was quick and easy to do and it adds a little life to the station.

Regarding people at the station, when my brother and I were young, we built our station with Legos. I put some people on the platform, including a man with an outstretched arm. To his misfortune, he vibrated and fell in front of my twin-motored GG-1, and the heavy G actually severed his arm! To two young boys, it was a hilarious event. :ROFLMAO: My brother found a tube of glue and reattached the aching commuter's arm. The man was back at work the next day. :)

That's a great memory, Hardcoaler. I remember loading soldiers into the boxcars and loading the gondolas. It made playing trains so much fun. Those were really good days.

Yes they were great times. Our imaginations were so vivid back then.

When we'd ride the C&NW from Chicago at night and arrive home, I'd immediately head to the basement and run my B&O RDC in the dark. With the lighted RDC running around past Lego buildings lit by grain-of-wheat bulbs, I was a C&NW engineer taking people home. No matter that the scene didn't match at all; as a kid it didn't matter one bit. :)

I'll agree with that completely. I hadn't paid attention to this thread before, but what you are doing here is excellent and brings back great memories of the Plasticville structures and postwar Lionel handed down from an older cousin (still got it)- oh and the fleet of Tootsietoy die cast trucks from the dime store that were close enough to the right scale to look OK to a kid (wish I still had them). Your layout looks great and as someone noted, you have an excellent collection of steam power. In spite of being a Michigan boy and not an easterner, I must admit to really liking that Erie camelback. Now I'm going to have a hard time not gazing wistfully at the O gauge stuff when I stop into my LHS. Again, magnificent.
