According to Atlas they produced both. If you go to the Atlas website and look up N scale locomotive parts under the 'Masterline" heading you will find body shells for both SD24's and SD26's. https://shop.atlasrr.com/c-925-pn99.aspx?pagenum=2
LOL! I wouldn't blame you Rick. My spreadsheet says that I got these in early 2005! They do have pretty good separately applied detailing.
This one is insane. https://www.ebay.com/itm/KATO-AMTRA...140201?hash=item3f9e526769:g:Z64AAOSw0SJa-O9w
................aaaaaaaaaaaannnnnnnnnnnnnndddddddddddd not only does it have no box, but someone actually bought the thing! If he can get one thousand bananas for his Kato, I should be able to get at least two hundred for my C-Cs.
What is so special about that particular car as to make someone willing to pay $1K for it when you can buy a two-pack of essentially identical cars for $33? https://www.trainworld.com/manufact...-ss-baggage-ph1-2pk-baggage-car-set-106-3512/
Out of curiosity I decided to do a quick bit of research on the web and found almost immediately the two car set for $35 plus $6 for shipping. Then I found Concor's baggage car with MTs for a whopping $27 plus again about a $6 shipping charge, and that was in less than 3 minutes of searching. So it isn't like the Kato car is rare or long out of production, and even if it was a Kobo special with lighting it doesn't command no where near that price. And even if it was out of production there is still Concor's version. Somethings fishy here or the so called buyer has more money than he knows what to do with. And buying a $30 item for the inflated price of $1000 he soon won't have that money.
Actually, it is long out of production, since it is from one of the smoothside car sets from back in the last century. However, another seller does have one of the original 4-car add-on sets, that includes a baggage car, for only $130. https://www.ebay.com/itm/N-Kato-106...r-set-Coach-Sleeper-Dome-Baggage/292568362481
As was noted earlier. But those newer cars have the the stripes running across the doors, unlike the car from the original smoothside sets. That's a distinction between the (long out of production) "$1K" car in that eBay listing and the newer two-car sets from the most recent production run.
On E-pay it's real easy to enter a price like this as there appears to be a glitch in their system. Computer logic at work or not. Several times I've put in a price only to find out their logarithms changed my price. I've seen this more often with my Make An Offer ceiling, then the actual price. Still it's real easy to do. Still this is one hell of a price and comes under the category of ridiculous and other expletives I can't use here.
Now I see why I missed out. I wasn't buying any Santa Fe Units with the yellow war bonnet., at the time. My bad.
Going back and checking some of the other stuff this party has sold it has all been in a reasonable price range so that may be what has happened here.
Excuse me? https://www.ebay.com/itm/N-Code-55-...213226&hash=item41e152036c:g:rhAAAOSwgHpa86Ba The seller name is richly ironic, for bonus points.
I took a look at other things in his store. What is this guy smoking and what planet is he from???? This is not train related but he's trying to sell this also. Sorry but I rather use my sleeves. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Vanity-Fai...594001&hash=item3f9baf5a4c:g:4OoAAOSwJqNa8zAs
