Yesterday, my girls went to Old Tucson Studios for being a Girl Scout that sold at least 500 boxes of cookies each. I knew that Virginia and Truckee #11, The Reno was there in poor condition, but so was a V&T passenger car that I didn't take a picture. There is also the Southern Pacific Amado, Arizona station. It is in much better shape, although the wrong color.
Nice reward trip and photos too. 500 boxes each is a LOT of cookies. I just ate the last of our Peanut Butter Patties and caught heck from my wife .... who quickly procured another box.
In 2013 in Spartanburg, SC someone entered the warehouse where all of the region's cookies were stored and stole 5,000 Boxes. It was an inside job. The cops caught up with the loser who admitted the theft. The warehouseman is a long term supporter of the Girl Scouts and he paid in full the theft amount. More cookies were hustled in and no sales were lost. No word on what the thief planned to do with the cookies, but I was told by a friend that a growing number of people knowingly buy stolen merchandise and see no conflict in it.
