Have never really taken many pics of my layout and now we are seriously having to consider moving. Parents are having health issues and we will have to find a house that could accommodate them being with us a little better. The downside of that means the layout will have to come down and a new place may not have extra space for the foreseeable future. So, kind of sad to know all this work will be shelved for now. The hope is I can at least take it apart in sections and some point down the line, resurrect it. In the mean time, thought I would share a few pics. There are so many talented people here on this board so even though my level of work here does not even compare, I do hope you all will enjoy the pics.

The first round are the helicopter tour pics of 3/4 of the layout. Will post some closer shots of some scenes as I can take them.

Nice. Sorry to read you'll lose this. :( Can anything be salvaged?

I sure hope I can take it apart in fair sized sections and with a little luck, be able to reuse those sections someday as a base for a new layout. The base is made from hollow core door sections so that gives me a bit of a starting point at least for taking it apart.

Wow! Very nice! I like that back drop with the plane flying overhead. :) Do whatever you can to save this. It is too perfect to destroy or throw out!!!! And I'm sure you will succeed in doing that. If there's a will, there's a way.

I know how sometimes life gets in the way but people comes first before MRR. I'm sure you will have plenty of time in the future to bring this BEAUTIFUL layout back to life. You never know. You might find that ideal house to fit your parents in AND have a spare train room. :D

That's a fine layout BNSF FAN. I like it a lot. It captures a cityscape really well and looks like the kind of pike that provides a lot of operational content. If you must dismantle it, hopefully it won't gather dust for long. (y)

Looks great! BTW, there's a FedEx van about to turn into the propane facility--it looks like it's about to wreck into a large, cumbersome object that has a coupler attached...... Ya might want to look into that.... :p

On a lighter note, I have moved across states and oceans with a layout. I can give you pointers on how to pack it up if you would like.

Sorry to hear about the move. Hope you can get something figured out at the new place. Even if it's a sized down version. On the upside, nice to see someone else with the complete MT NASA collection. My booster car set just came in today, completing it!

Thanks for all the nice comments everyone.

Ha, it's funny the things you set down on the layout and just don't think much about them and now the poor FedEx driver has to deal with it.

Thanks Hemi. I have a couple of ideas but just may take you up on that sir.

Thanks Jason, the NASA series was pretty neat. I'm sure there is a collector or two out there cringing at seeing those cars out on the layout but have to enjoy them. Still not sure about getting the engine yet but hope to be getting the booster car set soon. Having to stop and rethink what I really want to purchase now knowing that it will most likely just be workbench modeling for a while.

Nice! Hope to see more after you get relocated. Best of luck with the move and parents, they do come first!

One question, tho. I assume the clean worktable is because you have been packing? That can't be normal!

Well, not normal is probably a pretty good description of me. As for the work table, I had cleaned it up a couple of weeks back in order to locate and organize a few things before starting something new and before I could start to get it back to it's normal state of disorganization, mom fell and I haven't really had the time to do much of anything.

Nah! I'm going to run mine on my new layout when it's complete (Well, at least enough to run on :D ). I bought the SW1500 loco when it was released. Found out recently that a guy I'm doing some DCC repair work for bought one for me as payment, so I guess I'll have two. The booster cars are amazing. They even came with additional decals to detail the boosters themselves. Haven't decided if I'm going to put those on or not. Either way, this series is really prized in my collection and will be on display when not on the layout. I have been a NASA employee for nine years now and I just felt like I had to have the series or I wasn't being true to myself :D

Such a nice layout. Bummer about having to tear it down. :(
I always hated tearing mine down to move (3 times!)...thus was born THERR RV...;)

Only thing I see wrong with your layout is having to dismantle. Hope you find a larger better place for family and layout.

Some more pics as I started taking cars off the layout the past two evening. You can see that the final coat of ballast wasn't applied.
