Welcome back everyone! I hope you all had a great Christmas break. For some of us, your author included, it's back to work today for a short work week. If your like me, you probably didn't get much done on the model railroad front, but if you did, let us know what you got done. Maybe you can tell us what new things you got for the train room or how about a picture or two of your Christmas Special rolling around the layout or under the tree? I'll start off with proof of the project that took me way too long to finish....

I finally managed to finish the off the ground elevated track set up for the Christmas Train. As can be seen here, the bridge portion has been visually inspected and approved for safe transport by the American Beagle Toy Train Association. Lucy has been good and generally lies here in front of the bridge, watching my B&M switcher trundle along.

So post your Christmas trains! Post what Santa brought for you and the layout! Or just post what you got done! We'll assemble on Friday the 29th to start another long weekend. Until then, have a great week, stay safe and as always...

    High Greens!

No layout work completed since we hosted a family party of 20 people ranging in age from 2 to 74! However, I got to show my layout to many of the non-enthusiasts and got interest and 'wows' over the layout to NCE Powerhouse Pro to Raspberry Pi to JMRI to android phone running Engine Driver. The technology involved impressed them highly. And this even included two potentially jaded teenagers. Doing this with just one or two at a time meant I could address questions completely. It was great!

I had a somewhat productive weekend. We also had a houseful of family and friends on Sunday. I managed to start work on my what if / should have been project. - Photos when complete. Other than that -- no other work was done in regards to my models.

Hope Y'all had a great Christmas!! and, I hope Santa delivered what Y'all wanted!!

Had some serious time in the man cave Saturday and Sunday morning. Finished a yellow and gray Super Dome.

Also bought some of the Woodland Scenics plug and play lighting. I love the working streetlights and will be adding more. I need to black out some windows on the building but I had fun adding this stuff and look forward to lighting up my Kingsbury branch.

Opened the train room today and with my sons help I was able to attach the gate latch so that my carts and main layout are somewhat stable when attached. We also finished up some wiring on the swing down section. Now I can move to the next project I started last winter so I may appease my wife and get it out from under her feet so to speak. Time to make some trees.

My wife gave me a small jar of black embossing powder. Not quite sure what it is but it is a fine powder and I have an idea where to use it. I have a coal loadout that this might work as ground cover or to weather front loaders and bulldozers.

Got that Christmas train running as was seen on other threads, but when I put that Huawatha project on the track after fixing the quartering issue, the firemans side gear snapped and blew off into Neverwhere! Spent an hour looking for pieces, and found exactly none! Bummer. Plastic Con-Cor running gear. Good news is that the CM&B will be sending a parts loco over!

We did have a good family time for the Christmas celebration, t'boot!!

Tonight I was able to create another tank out of 2″ ABS pipe couplers, styrene, and Clever Models textures…needing some sort of bridge, I took a part of the Walthers ADM grain elevator for a fitting…..

Is this N scale? I need to make an oil tank and I’m in HO. So it would need to be about 7” diameter.
