The seller you were looking at it is all Priority mail, which would be a minimum of $7.15 and is high for one MTL car. They do state they combine shipping costs for multiple items. Other sellers are different. One seller only charges $3.00 shipping on the entire order !

I broke down and bought an Athearn SP&S Challenger #911 at my LHS. We ran it quite a bit on the test track with no problems. I have an earlier run Challenger (Clinchfield) that I detailed as SP&S 910 which will now become SP&S 900.

Brad is right, all the sellers set their own rates, and some do different things based on what they think people want.

and since this is a peer to peer selling engine, you can always ask if they will ship with a different method. I have found all of the sellers I have talked to start with what they would prefer, but if you, the buyer, want something else, i have found that most will cooperate. And the worst they can do is say no, right?

Was hoping to find a Lionel Polar Express set at club show this year.
Found a number of cars, but no sets.

Did manage to get ahold of an MTH Rio Grande F3 ABA set, patterned exactly like the original 1957 Lionel Rio Grande F3’s!! Paid $300, original price was $499.95, from what I found!
Also picked up 3 Rio Grande cars, 2 Atlas covered hoppers, a Lionel Rio Grande Cookie Box, and a couple of pretty nice bridges.

Nothing N Scale though. Either nothing of interest, or things priced too high, I thought!

Only downside is, I managed to drop my MTH DCS remote on the floor.
Rendered it inoperable, again! Gotta take it in soon, for repairs.

Looking into maybe getting the MTH WIU - Wi-Fi Interface Unit
Along with the app, I can control my trains with a smart phone, IF I had one.
Or I can run my trains with my iPad instead!! App available for both Android and iOS.

Kato UP business car St. Louis from a friend who is refocusing. Also 3 ICG freight cars - two BLMA 60 ft flats and an Intermountain PS covered hopper.

I got my Western Pacific/ Sac. Northern outside braced wood bay window caboose from Shapeways. The designer suggests an atlas caboose frame and trucks to finish it. I'm really curious to see how this comes out. 007.JPG

I also ordered some 3D printed cars. A couple of Mercury Montego wagons, and some Ford Fairmonts and Ford Granadas. 008.JPG

    John,
Are those winter hatches at the bottom of your picture? If so are they for GP’s?
And the last question is who are they from?
I also bought one of the cabooses but have yet to build it. I look forward to seeing pictures of yours.

And if you didn't recognize what was forming with my last round of purchases, my new Con-Cor Budd dome observation should make it more clear:

Yes, they're for WP GP7/9s. I don't when I'll get to the caboose. Too many projects on my table and life keeps getting in the way! The round thing at the far left is a 1/25 scale Cadillac air cleaner for a 32 For Tudor street rod kit I have planned.

I just scored an Intermountain N scale SSW SD40T-2 that I've been looking for for a while. Run-through power.

I love the pic however it gave me a panic attack-
takes me back a few months ago on a section I was in the process of working on-took a test run around the track and as luck would have it the track section at the edge of the table where I was working on I had the barrier removed; my engine and first car took a 40" dive to the floor...

I guess this would be a bad time to point out that that train is currently over 66 inches above the floor.

Do you have pillows on the floor to catch them?

Well, carpeting. However, I've found that you are a lot more careful with your rolling stock when it's at head height than when it's at waist height.
