They look great. I model the Western Pacific RR so I don’t plan on getting any. Now if you want to talk about the new box car release, several of those are on the acquisition list. Now if I could just get back to work and earn the money to pay for them. Patience is a virtue, catch it if you can.
Got mine, they are GREAT !!!! Thanks, Brian, for having these made. Hopefully, more New Haven fans will buy them !!!
Thanks, bb. I sure would've liked to have a couple in z. Not much z NH stuff lately. I'm still waiting for MTL NH passenger cars. Jim in Boston
You would be better served I think by petitioning AZL to release their heavyweights deco'd for NH. At least five of those bodies are 100 prototypical for NH (12-1, 10-1-2 and 6-3 sleepers; 28-1 parlor; and RPO) whereas the MTL smoothsides are not. And of course, the PRR heavyweights traveled through to Boston and a number of the AZL heavyweights have been prototypically deco'd for PRR.
Jim — If you can track these down, AZL #71401-2, Heavyweight Parlor "Nancy", and #71401-3, Heavyweight Parlor "Nina", are New Haven cars and definitely ran to Boston.
Hi, bb. Thanks for this info. I was not aware of these. Since they pre-date the MTL NH GP9 I already own they will be appropriate. I grew up in South Boston and crossed the Broadway bridge which spanned the old Dover St. yards (now Cabot yard-MBTA) and it was filled with with out of service passenger cars waiting to be scrapped. It was our playground as kids. It was known to us as the "pheasant field" because of the wild pheasants that lived among the weeds. I hope I can get my hands on these. Take care, Jim in Boston
Well the Nancy and Nina are sold out. But they do have the RPO's which were numerous in the Dover yard storage area. I will order a couple of them. They would look good as part of aNY CONSIST. tHANKS FOR THE HEAD'S UP. jIM
Yes, the two parlors are sold out, but I would put an eBay watch on them and grab them when they surface. Which they will eventually, as everything always does on eBay. Regarding the RPO - the bodystyle is prototypical for NH but the lettering scheme is not. I recommend grabbing the unlettered version and applying decals to get the proper deco on the model.
Thanks, bb. Good recommendation. I will do that. Most of the rolling stock that I remember, and there were acres of it, were ready for the scrap heap. All were vandalized. This was mid-60's until they were all gone, replaced by the Cabot yard of the MBTA in the 70's. Jim
